2010 Favorite Skincare, Makeup and Nail Products

Year 2010 has passed but not forgotten. I thought it’s about time I do a post about my favorite products of the year! I found some great products that I use a lot and fall in love. Some of them I’ve already raved about in my previous posts and some of them I haven’t shown you yet. So today I’ll mainly focus on skincare, makeup and nails. Maybe next time I’ll do hair, body and beauty tools in another post. So let’s get started!

• – Lotion – •

Ozeki Nada Kuramotohatsu Lotion – I’ve been using this lotion for a few months now. You’ll probably see it on the list of my winter finished products. It’s made from Sake and rice bran extract, similar to SKII’s famous ingredient pitera. The lotion has a pleasant sake scent which is not too strong. And the moisturizing effect is also comparable to SKII’s Facial Treatment Essence Lotion. I did a full review on this a while ago. Check it out here.

• -Mask – •

Bliss Steep Clean Professional-Strength Facial Mask and Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask – Great products from Bliss! Unlike the peel off masks, Steep Clean actually dissolves dead skin cells and exfoliates the skin in one action in just 15 minutes. There’re 2 separate chambers of products, blue and yellow. You just pump them together and mix them into one green-ish cream like mask. Leave it on, wipe off and rise. Then you’re great for another treat, Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask. We all need oxygen and so does our skin. This mask is like a oxygen shot for your face. You just massage it onto the skin and see the mask froth up like champagne bubbles. 5 minutes is all it takes. I always feel my skin brighter and smoother afterwards. The Triple Oxygen + C Energizing Cream is a great moisturizer too. Though I don’t have the packaging to show you. See the reviews here and here.

• – Sun Block – •

Diorsnow White Reveal UV Shield SPF 50 PA+++ and RMK Face Protector SPF 31 – My out to play sun block and everyday sun block. Both are non greasy and fast absorbing. Diorsnow has a matt finish while the RMK is more moisturizing. Both have refreshing scent.

• – Serum – •

Chanel Hydramax + Active Serum and Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum – One’s great for hydrating and one’s great for dark spots. I have no idea what Chanel puts in their Hydramax Serum, but every time I apply it, I just feel my skin silky smooth. It’s miracle. I’ve tried a lot of dark spot serums before. All of them sort of worked but none of them delivered dramatic effect, except the Shiseido White Lucent one. With this, I not only see my skin tone evened out, also the stubborn dark spots started fading.

• – Miscellaneous – •

Cle de Peau crème de massage – This is my all time favorite massage cream. I’m almost done with my second jar. I still remember the first time the SA lady tried this on me, I instantly see tissue paper turned yellow when she wiped it off of my face. She said those are the dead skins and junk from my skin. I don’t see any other massage cream take off dead skins like this so I was immediately sold. Over the years it still works the best. And the touch of the cream is so luxuries.

• – Remover – •

Sana Powerstyle Mascara Quick Remover, Chanel Gentle Biphase Eye Makeup Remover and Jill Stuart Cleansing Oil – All of them are makeup removers. I only use Sana Mascara remover to take off hard to remove waterproof mascara. The wax formula works like a charm. It makes the later eye makeup removing much easier. Chanel’s good for most eyeliners and eyeshadow. It’s very gentle yet effective. JS Cleansing Oil is just purely love. The scent is great and it works great too. It doesn’t leave greasy residue or make my skin tight.

• – Primer – •

Guerlain Meteorites Light-Defusing Perfecting Primer and MAKE UP FOR EVER High Definition Primer 02 Mauve – Guerlain Meteorites Primer is light and it goes on super smoothly. The peals add a natural and healthy glow to the face but not too shiny. I usually put it on where I want it to be highlighted. MUFE HD primer has 7 different colors. Each one of them targets a different skin problem. Mauve is great for counteracting sallow undertones. Also it makes my foundation stay longer without sliding. The only thing I didn’t like is the smell, kind of gross but still acceptable.

• – Foundation – •

Lunasol Modeling Liquid Foundation and SK-II Air Touch Foundation – Lunasol Modeling Liquid Foundation has about 60% water in it so it’s really lightweight. The coverage is sheer but buildable. With a little help of beauty blender, the semi-matt finish is almost perfect. But in order to achieve the airbrushed effect, I will need SK-II Air Touch Foundation. A unique form of foundation, using the wonder of ionization technology to arrange fine particles evenly over the skin. With Pitera and hydrators to help create smoothness and radiance reminiscent of a baby’s skin (SK-II website). It really is a great product but I just realized it was discontinued, so sad!

• – Bronzer and Powder Compact – •

Dior Bronze Original Tan 01 Healthy Tan and Guerlain Parure Pearly White Foundation Compact – I really like the Dior bronzer. It’s not too dark or looking weird on me. A lot of bronzers tend to look orange but not this one. It only gives me a natural sunkissed glow. Guerlain compact is the most finely milled compact I’ve used and the sponge is silken. Over the past year I used these quite a lot so the imprints are all gone.

• – Blush – •

Nars Deep Throat and Jill Stuart Blush Blossom 05 Poetic Daisy – Nars blushes are famous for their pigmentation and I agree with that. A lot of times I just reach out for this blush for no reason. With several light blush strokes and I’m done. The color is natural and it stays for hours. I really should do a swatch on this. JS blush blossom is a new blush product that came out last year. It also has the signature princess-y packaging with much practical design in mind. The brush is by itself; so I don’t have to worry about the chain breaks from my clumsiness.

• – Lip – •

Dior Addict High Impact Weightless Lip Color 863 Pink Bustier, Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick Compact 63 Giulette and Cle de Peau Extra Silky Lipstick 105Pink Bustier is a very soft pink sheen that looks super natural on lips. It was my favorite lipstick for Spring. Then I fell in love with Guerlain Rouge G lipstick compact. It’s the most pigmented lipsticks I’ve had so far. The color is true to what it looks like and the staying power is superb. Normally it stays for 5+ hours without smudging or bleeding. CDP Extra Silky Lipstick is my recent go-to lip product. It’s like an intense moisturizing serum on the lips. The moment I put it on, it melts over and makes my lips plump with a beautiful soft sheen.

• – Eyeliner and Mascara – •

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Zero, Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus and Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara – I think most of you guys are already using UD liners and MJ mascara. So I won’t say too much. I got the Giorgio Armani mascara as my GWP a while ago and I started to like it. It’s the only western mascara that doesn’t smudge on me. If you have oily lids, you may consider this.

• – Eyeshadow – •

Lunasol Star Shower Eyes 04 Star River, Dior Single Eyeshadow Metallic Blue and YSL cream eyeshadow 19 Rivera Blue – I haven’t picked up too many eyeshadows last year since I’ve got a lot of them that I rarely use. These 3 are my favorites. I should do swatches sometime.

• – Nail Polish – • (Click the link to see reviews and swatches.)

top row: Chanel 527 Nouvelle Vague, RMK EX-26 Pink, Dior 386 Cherry Flower, Dior 604 Silver Pearl, OPI The show must go on!,

bottom row: Chanel 450 Illusion D’or, Chanel 509 Paradoxal, Chanel Soho Collection Steel.

• – Gel Lacquer – •

Last year I also started doing gel nails. OPI axxiúm Soak-Off Gel Lacquer seems to be a really great gel system. I heard it’s also currently number 1 in the market. If you ever decide to try soak off gels, ask for OPI axxium. You’ll probably find your favorite polish shade in the gel formula.

My favorite shades from year 2010 are OPI Princess Rules!, Bubble Gun, Extra-va-vaganza!, Show it & Glow it!, ibd Jade Dragon and Cherry Blossoms. The swatches of the ibd colors will be on a later post.

I hope you had fun reading today’s post. Until next time…
