Burberry Eye Definer Midnight Plum No. 05

So I asked the sales lady at Nordstrom, “Can I have a Burberry Eyeliner in No. 5?” She said “Yesterday I had one left and let’s see…today… I still have one left.” Phew so lucky! I guess this is a very popular color.

Burberry have created five Eye Shaping Pencils that work with your natural eye colour to enhance and intensify. Formulated using natural conditioning waxes and emollient oils, Burberry Eye Definer glides on effortlessly to highlight the eye colour and shape. Water resistant and long-wearing. – Burberry website.

Midnight Plum No. 05

Like all Burberry beauty items, the Eye Definer (Eyeliner) packaging is very sleek. The letters can only be seen at a specific angle or else you will only see a black pencil.

At the end of the pencil it shows the color so there’s no need to take off the cap.

Unlike the blush, the liner is fragrance free.

Burberry pencil sharpener that comes with the Eyeliner. This is the best designed eyeliner sharpener I’ve ever seen. The casing looks very chic and cute also functional. It holds the pencil shavings inside so it won’t get messy.

The little gap on the other side is for opening.

The sharpener blade is made in Germany.

The liner is incredibly soft and pigmented. It’s comparable to Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye pencil and Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes if not softer than those. The color on skin shows deep intensive purple with micro fine shimmer. The photo below is taken under natural lighting (top), flash (middle) and direct sunlight (bottom).

Swatched on tissue paper. Surprisingly the purple tone did not show up on the tissue. It looks more like black to my eyes.

As Burberry’s description says, the eyeliner is water proof. It stayed on the back of my hand for hours without budging a bit. I even tried to rub it off with water but no luck. However sadly it melted terribly on my oily lids.  I can barely tell it’s there within a couple hours. So if you have oily lids, it may not work for you.

Overall I do like the packaging and the special designed sharpener. But if it doesn’t stay on my eyes, what’s the use? For $27, I expect something better than this. And the color itself isn’t unique either. I’m sure I can find something similar with lower price. Sadly the Burberry Eye Definer is a disappointment to me.

omg the color looks so intense on your hands and on tissue, but that sucks that it didn’t withstand your oily lids. then I might have no luck with it either 🙁 what a shame because it looks like such a nice and chic looking liner!

Wow, that sucks! It looks beautiful, but if it doesnt last on the lid, then totally not worth the money 🙁 But such a lovely color!!! 🙂
