Chanel Fall 2011 Nail Polish 531 Péridot Swatch and Review

Not everything is what it seems. Some colors can reflect illusions meaning it can give a greenish look one minute and a gold look the next. This might be MAGIC with the words, “HOCUS POCUS.” The next thing you would hear is “POOF” and magically the color changes. Only if it was real or maybe it is! I think only David Copperfield is able to perform such illusionary acts of magic.

That brings us our last Chanel nail polish review for this year’s Fall season, 531 Péridot. Everyone wave “goodbye” to the triplets review. *Wave Wave* Well hey, maybe not goodbye so soon because Fall isn’t here yet and there are so much stuff this season and the next and the next and the next…. ok I know you get the picture. I will end it at that.

531 Péridot is such a unique and complex color. When you look straight at it, it’s like a piece of yellow gold with olive green rust around it. I know it doesn’t make sense because gold will rarely rust.

Anyway if you don’t know already, Peridot is actually a type of gemstone which is also the birthstone for August. August color for fall? It doesn’t make sense x 2. But that doesn’t affect the beauty of the polish.

Sometimes this color hiding inside the bottle makes me think of illusionary powers because it shows different colors at each angle.

See! It is gold!

The side is green.

Both sides are green. Like the gemstone peridot, the green color depends on how much iron in it, but for our polish it all depends on the lighting.

Let’s see the swatches. The difference between one coat and two coats is pretty apparent because of the intensity being reflected by light. Obviously, the color is a bit more serious on the right as oppose to the left. The application is super smooth and effortless. You can see some brush marks but nothing major.

When Peridot meets sun, it portrays a sea green look almost like seaweed except with shimmers!

Here are the various swatch pictures under different angles of lighting giving you a whole picture of what this bottle of tricks can produce.

Péridot really is a crazy looking color especially like its way of saying “Hey! look at me I change colors every second.” The color is indeed an attention grabber and is very mesmerizing while being played. What I mean is moving your hands in an up and down left and right motion. The formula as always is smooth living up to the brand’s name. What do you think of this color?

I so can’t wait to finally get mine, this is the first time I gave in and reserved a Chanel nail polish at my local counter, like, really, I’d never spend 23$ on a nail polish if I was sane, but who says beauty bloggers are supposed to be sane 😀 Gosh I love this colour so much!!

I was super excited when I saw the promo pictures of Chanel Peridot because it looked multi-faceted and duochrome in the bottle. I still think it’s really gorgeous but I wish there was more green in it when is actually on the nail. Still, very pretty and reminds of beautiful beetles. Thanks for the swatch and sharing. 🙂
