Chanel Holiday 2011 Collection Swatch and Review Soft Touch Eyeshadow Blazing Gold, Beige Lame, Natural Finish Loose Powder Feerie

So I was initially thinking of having a break on Sunday. But I couldn’t resist playing with the Holiday makeup collection from Chanel. They were just sitting their on my desk and calling my name. So what happened? I ended up writing this review post. Here are yet another 3 more items from Chanel that I will be featuring today.

We have Soft Touch Eyeshadow in 407 Blazing Gold, 417 Beige Lame, and Natural Finish Loose Powder in 47 Feerie.

First let me show you the single eyeshadows. There’re 2 limited edition colors for the holiday season, 407 Blazing Gold and 417 Beige Lame.

It is a very bright yellow gold color with gold shimmers. As the name suggests, the shadow and the shimmers in the shadow are both velvety soft. It doesn’t feel chalky or gritty at all.

This is one shot taken in direct sunlight. You can see the shimmers being sparkly yet subtle.

In a different angle, I tried to capture the fine shimmers.

But I think they show up so much better under artificial lighting. This one is taken with a daylight bulb without flash. I don’t like using flash because a lot of times, it tends to wash out the color.

When I first saw the 2 single shadows, my eyes were all on Blazing Gold because Beige Lame didn’t seem unique to me at all. I thought it was just another brownish taupe. Boy was I wrong! It actually has a combination of gorgeous shimmers that enhance the color, it’s like icings on the brownie. This is definitely a surprise present from Santa for me.

Here is a shot taken in direct sunlight. With the sun blasting head on, the shimmers are all sort of hiding.

Under a different angle, you can now see them, but still not quite…

Don’t be sad though, take a close look at the photo below. Like the most beautiful flowers only bloom at night, these shimmers only show their true beauty under artificial lighting (well to my camera.) In real life you should be able to see these pink, blue and gold shimmers with naked eye very easily.

Now let me show you the swatches of them. On the left we have Blazing Gold and on the right is Beige Lame. Both colors have nice pigmentation but they’re not overly pigmented either. The texture is very smooth and silky, lovely all around!

The loose powder comes with a puff, but I like using my face brush for the application. That way I get more natural finish. The puff is really soft so if you do decide to use it, it feels heavenly on the skin.

Feerie has a very delicate pink shade to it, though it goes on rather sheer. The color applies on skin so much lighter than it seems in the jar. So instead of adding a heavy pink tone to it, it rather leaves a luminous glow with subtle sparkles. The powder is finely milled and feels really soft to the touch.

Once again this is a hard to capture beauty. I tried taking photos in direct sunlight thinking the shimmers would show up but I guess they’re too bright for the camera. Luckily the result is better in the shade. Like you never see stars when the sun is up, but they twinkle ever so beautifully only at night. These shimmers are just like those stars.

Chanel’s Soft Touch Eyeshadows and Natural Finish Loose Powder have exceeded my expectations once again. The eyeshadows provide easy to the eye pigmentation with silky and smooth textures. Not to mention, the colors are dreamy! The Natural Finish Loose Powder is something that makes you look flawless by enhancing your own complexion. Having this lightly pink toned translucent powder, I can imagine you look bright and full of energy all ready for the season. Hey, Christmas can be a lot of work especially if you need to shop for gifts and such. So why not treat yourself with some Chanel presents?

The eyeshadows are very classic neutral colours that can be worn beyond the holidays.

Dont think I’ll be getting more Chanel at the moment though. Loving the illusion d’ombre eyeshadows for now. And there’s much more on my wish list now.;)

Wish list just keeps going on and on. It never ends because of all the new stuff coming out each season.

All your Chanel pictures are almost like me being able to feel it. I wanted to get the lipsticks from your other posts but I have so many already.

    • admin October 12, 2011 at 4:33 PM

Another lipstick isn’t that much, I mean we use lipstick pretty much everyday and they deplete pretty quickly.

Thanks for the post. I have been looking for a face powder with shimmers, the Natural Finish Loose Powder in 47 Feerie looks beautiful and may be the one going home with me.

After reading this post of yours, I knew I had to get Blazing Gold. But how does it compare with the gold shade in the Topkapi quad? How are they different or similar?

    • admin October 27, 2011 at 6:03 PM

The one on the Topkapi is a bit more golden yellow. Blazing gold is more inline with the festive this season. Jut think that Topkapi is more like ancient times where the princess would wear a lot of gold jewelry all over her and stuff.
