Chanel Lumieres Byzantines de Chanel Palette Highlighters and the Touching Story Behind

A truly limited, breathtaking piece from Chanel, Lumières Byzantines de Chanel Palette Highlighters.

Let’s begin with the touching story behind the palette first!

Cast:
Troublemaker: Hubby
Beauty Advisor: Rochelle
Manager: Diane

Our story begins around the end of May… Enter Hubby… So the story behind the mystery of the $250 palette starts off with hubby looking online for something regarding Chanel that he has heard of recently. As he recalls it was coded as “$250 palette.” With the price tag he was shocked but was intrigued and wanted to find out what it looked like. So he finally stumbled upon a random site online with a scan of it from a magazine (he doesn’t recall what magazine). So he thought “HOW COOL! maybe the wife would like it.”

Without thinking he picks up his iPhone and starts calling boutiques around the country furiously starting with New York. The New York store said it was all out and gone… better luck next time… well it didn’t go like that but they said to try other stores. After a good 20 minutes had passed he was bummed. He only gathered the information of 150 sold in the United States and 1500 worldwide. Getting it seemed harder than making the palette itself.

He finally thought why not try Las Vegas. His thought process was the boutiques there must get more products because of all the tourists and that would be the perfect spot. He calls the number he found online and it was the Bellagio store… Enter Rochelle… So Rochelle picks up the phone and asks my hubby what he needed. He was nervous because I could hear his trembling voice after all the calls he had made cross country but he managed to spill out, “Do you have the $250 palette available?” I could literally see the cold sweat down his neck, I guess he was very painful but at the same time very anxious with high hopes. In that split second I thought to myself, “Wow he is really trying so hard to obtain something.” I felt very heartfelt. A moment later, he said, “Great here is my information and number. When do you expect it to come in?” I was like, “YAY I GOT IT!” As he hung up the phone, he said to me, “Rochelle said it will be available early June and I am the last person on the list of 5. She will call me and send it over.” Fast Forward…

First week of June, Hubby calls Rochelle and asks if it has arrived. It hadn’t but there were words of it coming in mid-June or early-July. I guess what ended up happening was Hubby kept calling her week over week for the entire June and early parts of July. He sometimes felt stressed but was determined to obtain the palette because when he says he will get something for me, he always does.

Finally, it was July 12, and he’s a little worried because he heard some people already got theirs in early June. So he called again to inquire about the palette. This time while Rochelle is helping another customer, her manager Diane answered the phone. She told him that Bellagio store is not going to get the palette anymore because another store had already sold their share when their store was remodeling. But the good news was instead of informing him that they were not getting the palette and making him panic, Rochelle asked Diane to locate the last palette in their system and even asked their regional manager to help acquire it.

Finally 2 days later, the gorgeously wrapped Chanel shopping bag knocked on my door.

I’m super touched and grateful by the way how Chanel treats their customer. Rochelle and her manager tried the best they could in helping hubby. Rochelle, herself has provided customer service that is out of this world. Her calm demeanor and quality of service was tremendous. With only 5 boutiques + Bergdorf Goodman selling the palette, it was just hard to get your hands on something like this. Hubby must have called the store over 20x and I am sure anyone dealt with him would be nerve racked… Hopefully Rochelle wasn’t being bothered too much.

THE END!

Now let’s talk about the palette itself! It’s not a regular palette that is full of color especially gold and and more gold. It is one of specialty. The palette was created by Peter Phillips for the pre-Fall 2011 Chanel Byzantine collection. Do note that the palette was hand made as I have heard.

The package came in a Chanel mini shopping bag all dressed up with a signifying white Chanel flower and ribbon.  The box itself had ribbons and the white flower too! It looked very special.
Here is the back of the box. It seemed like it came from Soho based on the ribbon.
Time to unwrap the ribbons and open the box!
Here is the back of the box with its ingredients and net weight information.
Upon opening the box there is a soft felted pouch, instructions card with number, and the palette.
Here is the card signifying my purchase. My number was 1491 out of 1500. Talk about close call. But another notable thing on the card is the instructions on how to use this wonderful palette.
Here is the back of the card.
Starting off with the back of the palette here is something different which is a picture of the face of a person. This was something new!
Opening the palette, you can see the palette as having floating bars of gold over a gold river. The colors although are different but this was magnificent!

Camera picture focused on the left.
Finally, camera picture focused on the top.

I probably wont use the palette and just keep it for collection but I must say, the palette is indeed gorgeous and something never seen from me towards Chanel, let alone all the work and effort put into obtaining such a rare piece.

Thank you so much for this review! This palette is so limited and expensive I never thought I would be able to see a review on it. The colours are so beautiful it’s a shame that you don’t plan to use it (I could never have so much control XD). I guess most ppl who bought it probably will never even swatch it either. Reminds me of the Nars lip set that came out for holiday 2010.

Wow… that is such an awesome story. Your hubby is super duper sweet. It’s so cute that he was even searching for Chanel and takes an interest in this stuff. He went through so much trouble too. The palette looks gorgeous and worth every penny. Even the bag is luxurious! But yeah, aww at the story. 🙂

I wonder who’s going to use or even swatch this palette. I wish I could get my hands on it. But $250, I’ll be broke.

I dont think I have ever seen a swatch as of yet. I think it’s more of a collectors item but I am sure there are people who started using theirs already….

To be honest, no beauty blogger – who owns this – has swatched it yet, I didn’t find any swatches so far and I’m quite glad it’s never been available in Germany, otherwise I’d have really spent 200$ on it.. or in my case rather 300$ because the prices are a little jacked up here, but omg – is there a clone existing of your hubby? This is like the sweetest story of getting a gift ever!

Thats really nice of your husband!
I was one of the lucky ones to get one, I haven’t used it yet. But as soon as my husband saw the prices that this was being sold for on eBay, I had to hide mine to keep him from selling it!
