Chanel Roses Ultimes de Chanel Le Vernis Attraction Frisson Distraction Tentation Swatches and Review

Chanel’s Roses Ultimes de Chanel Le Vernis set was something that I had to think about after giving it my first glance. The colors don’t really go together! Well other than Frisson and Distraction that might be able to slide by but Tentation and Attraction really looked out of place. However, I thought it was probably the uniqueness of each that brings different looks for the season. After all, wearing the same colors or similar ones would be boring everyday.

This set comes in 4 nail polishes which are:

545 Attraction
543 Frisson
549 Distraction
541 Tentation

Here is a quick look at each color sitting next to each other side by side.

545 Attraction is a white color that is so bright and creamy almost like that the pearls on an earring. You can say that the color is rather bold.

When I initially swatched this color I found it to be rich in pigmentation despite it being white. It almost looks as if there are a bit of silvery like tones enclosed. The application no matter how you look at it is quite streaky. If you prefer a smooth, brush mark free application, you won’t like Attraction. But I think the finish looks unique as is, the lines and swirls add a lot of texture to the pure white color.

543 Frisson is a soft baby pink with specks of gold shimmer flakes scattered around. The color kind of reminds me of a jelly candy.

After applying the color on the nails, you could find that the pink looks really amazing in the fact that there are small gold shimmers for detailing. Besides the gold flakes, you could also see some multi colored flakes as well. However the coverage is rather sheer so it may require 3 coats if you want it fully opaque. And the application isn’t as smooth as the next 2 polishes. With a bit care, you could still achieve a streaky-free finish though.

549 Distraction is a beautiful coral color with a hint of micro shimmer.

Out of the 4 polishes, Distraction is the easiest to work with. The almost creme like consistency goes on smoothly and the coverage is perfect with 2 coats. The glossy finish also makes the fingers look nicely polished. I am loving this coral so far.

541 Tentation is a hot fuchsia like color that is a cross between purple and red. The color itself looks quite neon at various angles. Inside the bottle are also micro sized shimmers. It looks somewhat similar but lighter to last year’s holiday color Rouge Carat (swatched here and here).

Looking red at one angle and purple the next but sometimes even hot pink is what can be used to describe Tentation. After observing it at various angles I noted the various colors it shows with light reflection. Not to mention the pigmentation on this, it was the most out of all the colors. Topping it off is the glossiness that it shows.

Chanel’s 4 new nail polishes are all very different in color. I could think of so many ways to wear them on occasions and where / what. After looking at all the colors, I feel that each really stands out on its own even with Attraction being a bit streaky. But the streakiness might be some sort of fashion or look that’s hot for the season. I honestly don’t think Chanel didn’t know about the streakiness that the nail polish produced. Other than that, Distraction and Tentation are probably my favorite one out of all 4. Distraction is purely gorgeous while Tentation is complex to show different colors when looking under different lighting. Just gotta love the neon like look.

Do you think Attraction’s finish is done on purpose or does the formula need improvement?

I think it is done on purpose. I don’t think their QA didn’t know about it.

I think Attraction (glossy platinum) is meant as a top coat? It says so in the summer 2012 sneak peek you posted. Anyhow, I like distraction and frisson so far!

Hmm I need to look into it. After looking at the fashion show from Chanel it seemed like the model was wearing it stand alone. Online at Chanel.com it is listed under nail polish as well.
