Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Collection Le Vernis Pirate, Rose Exuberant, Rose Cache, Mat Top Coat Swatch and Review

It seems like only one nail polish Rouge Carat for the holiday season wouldn’t be enough, so recently Chanel released 3 more nail polishes along with a limited edition matt top coat for us. These polishes comes as part of the Rouge Allure Velvet Collection.

08 Pirate, 519 Rose Exubérant, 521 Rose Caché and Top Coat Velvet Mat Top Coat

The mat top coat actually has a special packaging design. Here is a comparison of the boxes. On the top there’s a white square frame and on the bottom the regular gold strip changed into silver.

The cap is also different. The Mat Top Coat has silver Chanel logo instead of the regular white color.

The bottle is also in an opaque black soft velvet finish.

It feels so smooth and soft to the touch.

The brush looks just like a regular Chanel polish brush.

The consistency is a bit thicker than nail polish and the color looks semi-transparent.

Now let me show you the 3 polishes one by one. 08 Pirate is a bold red with no shimmers.

Pigmentation is superb. One coat should be good enough but here I did 2 coats anyway. It has a high shine glossy finish.

After it dries, I applied a thin coat of the Mat Top Coat on top. With a light blow of air, the glossy red instantly transformed into a velvety matt finish. The color seems a bit brighter than without to me.

519 Rose Exuberant is a bright hot pink with no shimmers.

It has the same great pigmentation as Pirate, so I decide to go with just one coat.

The Mat Top Coat also makes the color a bit more brighter than without, doesn’t it? I really love the smooth finish with the top coat.

521 Rose Cache is a dusty rose beige with sparse micro gold-pink shimmers. The shimmers are not very visible unless under a certain angle.

Rose Cache is sheerer than the previous two, so with one coat you can still see some bare spots.

A second coat makes the nails complete opaque. It also dries into a glossy finish.

It was really hard to capture the micro shimmers. You can barely tell they exist.

Finally the Mat Top Coat was applied to 2 fingers to give comparison.

All 3 nail polish colors are as vibrant as ever with its own uniqueness. But once the mat top coat is applied the nail polish instantly transforms itself into something different! Not only is the formula in each bottle top notch, the coverage is excellent as well! The smooth finishing touch after each mat top coat really stands out to be something different!

I’ve seen some other brand’s Matt Top Coat before. How does Chanel’s compare to those?
