Chanel Spring 2012 Nail Polish 533 April 535 May 539 June Swatch and Review

When I first saw Chanel 2012 Spring Harmonie de Printemps Collection promo pictures, I was ecstatic. Everything stood out to me especially the 3 nail polishes. But it bugged me as to why the names were April, May, and June.  The color association for the names was also very interesting. All I could think of was the colors may have something to do with flowers or fruits. However, I must say that it has been a roller coaster kind of emotion to me in terms of going from promo pictures to the actual product and finally to swatching them. Keep reading to find out what the roller coaster means.

Chanel’s 533 April, 535 May, and 539 June are available now on and Chanel counters. They are priced at $25.00 each.

April is a reddish plum with hints of fig color mixed into the equation. When I got this color out of the box I was surprised by how dull it looked! The color is not at all vibrant. The same also applies to the other colors. So I started to wonder what Peter Phillips had in his mind.

When I painted the color on my nail, the color jumped out at me as a very elegant red almost something found in a darker red toned rose. The creaminess and coverage on the formula were also impressive. It could be done with just one coat if you wanted to, but two coats looked perfect. There is no shimmers in it but the super glossy finish will still make your nails the center of attention. Note that, all the other swatches are two coats as well.

Under direct sunlight, the polish itself is a very classy and elegant looking red.

The color of May is a baby bubblegum pinkish color that is a bit powdery. As you’ve already known, Mother’s day happens in the month of May. I almost thought after looking at the color and the name, “Wow!” It’s like the color of a flower that you would give to your mom on that one special day.

The color of May, swatched, was extremely brilliant in bringing the best of its color out. Pink is alive, almost like the color that would you find on a comically drawn pink pig.

Having the color under sunlight brings out a bit warmth of the pink color that makes it seem more girly and innocent.

Last but not least, June is practically the start of Summer. You can also say the middle of June is usually when Summer starts for kids. The peachy apricot color on this polish reminds me of the fruit and a lot of fruit punches that people would drink when out on the beach or relaxing at a resort.

June, when swatched brought a remembrance of the spring fruit apricot. The color is like an apricot pop ice cream color that you would find at a local ice cream shop. The formula shares the same rich creaminess as the other two polishes. The consistency was light and easy to apply.

Here is the nails swatched at sunset since I couldn’t get the sun to stay up for a little bit longer while I took pictures. That is Winter for you…

Chanel’s Spring 2012 nail polishes are like going back to basics. The unique blend of spring colors are refined and timeless! But what makes the polishes special are the color reminding us about the beauty in them. The formula is also very high quality, bringing an extra creamy feeling with glossiness to it without sacrificing anything else. To me, I enjoyed the colors because I could relate to them with their names.

Oh by the way, “Roller Coaster,” to me was that on my initial impression at seeing the promo pictures, I was wow’d by it. But when I saw the actual product, my heart almost sank as the colors looked just so bland in the bottle. Finally, it all came back when I applied them on my nails, they were pretty shockingly gorgeous. So don’t be fooled by their hidden beauty or else you may regret for not swatching them on your nails.

Why did they make these 3 months? Are they going to make any other months too?

Because Spring is April, May, and June. Not sure about other months but it would be interested to see.

I love Chanel in the spring, these colors are really warm despite being light and are very taste-evoking. Personally, I’m still loving black pearl but I’m going to feel so feminine in all three. My wallet’s definitely going to feel this. The month names have pretty much planned my spring.
