CND Jason Wu Collaboration Nail Color Collection Swatch and Review

Recently nail polish is a big hit ranging from various colors and styles to normal everyday wear. I am ecstatic about a nail polish collection by CND, who collaborated with fashion designer Jason Wu to bring you the hottest off runway colors.

“Every season I play with different ways of using color in my collection, so it was a natural choice to collaborate with CND on a capsule of nail colors that reflects my aesthetics. Included in the set is my signature gray color” says Wu.

The back of the box gives a detailed description of each color’s name and ingredients.

Sliding open the box, 5 nail polishes are neatly placed in a tray along with a booklet behind it.

They’re so organized just like a box of gems.

I seldom see a booklet in a nail polish set. Can’t wait to see what it says inside.

The first 2 pages give an overview of the designer himself and his collaboration with CND.

The next 2 pages talk about the inspiration on how he created the fashion for this season.

The Collection!

Each nail polish is coordinated with a piece of fashion.

If you still remember Jason Wu’s Spring/Summer 2011 fashion show, it was also CND nail colors that completed the look.

Finally this is the back of the booklet.

Now let’s take a first look at the nail polishes, shall we?

#575 Anna (a clear coat that “featherizes” any color), #571 Miss Wu (Jason’s signature gray), #572 Brigitte (lingerie-nude), #574 Sophia (voluptuous cappuccino), and #573 Veronica (wanton garnet).

#571 Miss Wu (warm, opaque) a limestone gray. This is Wu’s signature gray color, that’s why it’s called Miss Wu. So romantic! It’s a pretty neutral gray with micro shimmers in the bottle.

But it dries completely matte. The photo below shows one coat (left) and 2 coats application. Apparently it’s very opaque with even one coat, but 2 coats definitely look even better. The micro shimmers only add dimension to the final look, it doesn’t seem shimmery at all.

#572 Brigitte (cool, opaque) a dirty rose.

Not as high coverage as Miss Wu, see the photo below for one coat (left) and 2 coat (right) swatch.

#574 Sophia (warm, opaque) a dark mushroom.

It’s yummy chocolate on the nail.

#573 Veronica (cool, opaque) a sexy, beet red.

This is the boldest color in the collection, yet classy and feminine.

#575 Anna (neutral, sheer) is the effect polish in the collection. It looks like a semi-transparant top coat in the bottle.

But the enlarged photo here shows that it’s not a simple top coat. There’re a lot of fragments that look like textile fibers inside. It must be these fibers that give the nail “tweed” effect.

Anna applied on Miss Wu. Only top half was applied to show the difference. As you can see, Anna has a crystalline effect that adds texture and dimension to the nail.

Finally see the Anna Effect on the entire collection. Of course you can use a Super Shiney top coat to add a glossy finish.

Though I absolutely love every color in the whole collection, my most favorite would be Miss Wu. It’s such a elegant gray color that will go with everything. Formula of the polishes is top notch as they’re highly opaque and even with one coat none of them is streaky. The texture is creamy and easy to apply. They also dry really fast. Anna effect top coat is subtle, unique and interesting. It’ll definitely make people wonder.

The collection is available now at beauty salons and cnd.com for $47 while supplies last.

I’m liking the colors!!! My favorite is Miss Wu, but I can’t decide if I like the effect… It kinda looks like the color got scratched up… but maybe it’ll grow on me when I see it in person =]

I love the Miss Wu colour, that matte is gorgeous.

But um the effects top coat looks a bit like when I accidentally ruin a manicure with hair… I don’t really like it at all :(.

I am loving the shades of this collection. Not sure about the special effects though… it looks strange.
