This is a requested post by some of my sweet readers regarding my Nail Polish Collection. Chanel Duo Platinum Holographic is the one of a kind, ever so unique and gorgeous set. At the same time it’s super hard to find (or expensive to get). A lot of you guys are probably curious about how it looks, so here I’m sharing this post with you.
As far as I know, this set was only available in European market back in 2007. Though some people said they spotted the set at airport duty free shops. It was a Limited Edition that’s discontinued already so you probably can only find it on ebay now.
Duo Platinum isn’t just an ordinary metallic polish, it contains two polishes in the set, a Fixing Base and a Holographic polish.
Many brands tried to imitate this color, but none of them have come even close to it.
If you’re interested, I have a dupe list for ya. GOSH Holographic, Sally Hansen Crystal Ball, China Glaze OMG and Nfu Oh 61, etc.

Two bottles are boxed individually then encased in a large Chanel polish box.
Let’s take a closer look at the 2 polishes. Front …
and back…
Now let me show you the swatches. First apply one coat of Fixing Base which acts as a ridge filler that helps polish adhere better and minimize nail unevenness. It dries up almost transparent.

Once the base coat dries, apply a thin coat of Holographic.
It’s not fully opaque but there’s already kaleidoscope effect.
Second coat of Holographic makes the nail completely opaque. It has the mirror-like silver metallic finish that changes color in different lightings and angles.
This is done without a top coat which looks super smooth and highly glossy.
Though with Seche Vite, it turns a little matte and less shiny. Weird. You think a top coat would add shine to a polish but not this one. Maybe Seche Vite is just not meant for me.
I believe a top coat does help polish last longer especially with metallic polishes. They tend to peel or chip easier than any other type.
Honestly speaking, I don’t wear this set a lot because it’s rare as it is. I’m afraid someday the polish will run out and I won’t be able to find it. I also wish Chanel will come up with something similar or re-release it. Though I highly doubt that because a true Limited Edition never comes back.
