Color of the Week – Dior Silver Purple

Starting this week, I’m going to feature one nail polish on my blog every weekend (hopefully). Today I’ll be showing you the Dior Vernis 782 Silver Purple. It’s the last nail polish I bought up until now.

Dior Vernis in Silver Purple is a Limited Edition nail polish from Holiday 2009 Cristal Boreal Collection. It was available at Dior counters and Sephora at Christmas time.

The color is a deep grayish purple with metallic silver finish. It can look very dark indoors.

The bottle is spill proof design. Though the cap can be a little hard to open sometimes.

I used an artificial nail with one coat application here. I didn’t use my own nails because I wanted to show the true color of the polish itself. My nails have a slight pink undertone beneath it.

This is the same nail with two coats. The color is so much richer and the coverage is a lot more opaque too. As with one coat, it looks more purple and gray while with two coats it becomes a deep blue purple. The pigmentation is intense and the consistency is really smooth. You can hardly see brush stroke marks with two coats.

With flash, it shows silver metallic shimmer and the color is more purple.

This compares the polish on the nail to the color in the bottle. It’s quite similar if not the same.

More pictures under natural low light.

Like all Dior Vernis, silver purple is a high quality, long lasting, non chipping nail polish. I tested it on my nails without adding top coat, it lasted a whole week. The color rather wore off instead of chipping and cracking. I’m very pleased with Dior’s formulation. I also really like its deep vibrant creamy color. It’s unique and beautiful.

I love the color. I wonder if it is fast drying? I tried so OPI, but they are really fluid like and so hard to dry. This one looks a lot better. The problem with me is that my nail polish comes off so fast, so I'm just too lazy to do them again and again. But anyway, looking forward to your future posts!!

Crystal: I've never tried OPI so I can't compare it to Dior. But the formula is by far really long lasting, at least a lot better than Chanel's.
