Corioliss C1 Titanium Styling Iron Red Leopard Edition Review

Looking for the perfect hair iron sometimes can be very hard. There are a variety of things you might consider. Just to name a few, you might look for design, functionality, comfortability and even compatibility with your hair.

Now look no more, Corioliss’s C1 Titanium Styling Iron is the one that you suits you all needs.

Corioliss C1 Titanium Styling Iron Red Leopard comes in a triangular box with a free heat pouch for $210 at

Besides the hot leopard print design, this iron does all the hair stylings such as straightening, curling, and even flicking. The 1 inch wide plate is perfect for all hair types. Heating wise, this iron can go up to 450 degree F. It also uses titanium for the heating plates which I’ll be talking about in a bit.

Inside box is this black heat resistant pouch with red border accents. It matches the iron’s red leopard design too. The pouch itself has 2 main functions. The primary function is to store the iron away from dust and probably little fingers… yes safe away from them. The second function is to be used as a heat resistant mat.

So I purposely laid the iron on top of the heat resistant mat to show you how it looks. The colors are practically the same, black and red.

Once you open the box, the iron comes wrapped around in bubble wrap away from harm or scratches. The work they put into protecting the product is pretty detailed.

Now let’s take a closer look at the iron. The rubbery grip on the outside is so soft and comfortable to hold but slip-free. It’s also fingerprint free. The titanium heating plates are ultra glossy and mirror-like. They also feels springy when pressed. That’s the trick for perfectly grasping hair when styling. Also notice the heating plates are a tad narrower than the outside plates. That prevents burning your scalp when styling close to the roots.

Wondering why the titanium plates are so smooth and glossy? Well here is the difference between a titanium plate and a ceramic plate when magnified at 400%. According to Corioliss, a titanium plate essentially provides a smoother and less friction surface so when the iron comes in contact with your hair you get a superior result in one pass without damaging your cuticle. Not to mention titanium heats up faster too! The ceramic plating design can cause snagging and damage to the cuticle.

Here is a side view snapshot of the iron. The height of the plates opening is just right. I remembered when I was using narrower opening irons, it was so hard to slip my hair through. But with bigger opening irons, my fingers get so tired to close the plates.

The inside design is a burning red skinned leopard, so stylish. There’re also some technical information regarding the iron. It works for 110-240V, 50/60Hz, very travel friendly. It only consumes 30W power which is amazing.

The on and off switch is in the inside of the iron but the heat setting wheel is on the side. It takes less than 30 seconds to heat up the iron. The heat setting wheel being on the outside also makes things a lot easier because now it takes you away from any potential burn injuries.

Here is the heat setting wheel up close. So after turning on the iron you can adjust the heat temperature according to your hair type. I have taken a few pictures to demonstrate the heat setting wheel below.

So inside the box is a safety and instruction booklet. It tells you all you need to know about using the styling iron. Here’s one piece of information that I’d like to share with you, the temperature settings indication chart. It tells us the heat setting for our hair, ranging from Fragile to Curly.

The iron also comes with a swivel cord that is tangle-free and won’t get in your way while you style.

The elastic velcro wrapper keeps the power cord tidy and organized.

Corioliss C1 is practically how I expected it to be. The design is stylish with its red leopard skin on black nonslip grips. It is lightweight and easy to use. Other than the cosmetic exterior of the product let’s talk about performance.

The performance on this iron is superb. You not only have an iron that heats up in a blink of an eye, you also have different heat settings you can use to cater your hair type. When you straighten your hair, the titanium plates holds the hair like no other. It takes only one pass to get that perfect straight from end to end. The hair feels stronger; looks shinier and healthier. It also adds movement to it so the hair looks natural and not being weighed down. Besides straightening, it does fantastic jobs when curling and flicking too. Overall, the iron is very well built and very versatile.

When I was browsing the Corioliss website, I found this styling video using the Corioliss C1. I’ll have to attempt that when I have shorter hair. Also check out CoriolissAmerica on youtube for more cool videos.

This specific iron is really well designed with the red leopard print and the black exterior rubbery feel grips. Hopefully, you get one of these for Christmas!

I went to their website and saw a lot of varieties. How does the C1 compare to C2? Because they are about the same price…

    • admin November 12, 2011 at 2:44 AM

I think the C2 has the remote control vs the C1 which is the buttons on the iron itself.

    • Lyn November 15, 2011 at 12:23 AM

It looks like C1 is specialized in styler and C2 is good at straightening. I’m not so sure though.

This iron seems amazing. The model looks great with the flicks. Is the iron light enough to hold?

    • admin November 12, 2011 at 2:44 AM

The iron is pretty light. It’s not that heavy and styling your hair should be a breeze with this iron.

I’m thinking of investing a good straightener/curler. Do you think the titanium plates are better?

    • admin November 12, 2011 at 2:47 AM

As far as I know this Titanium Plated iron does heat up pretty fast and the plates are smooth. As far as better? I think there are pros and cons but overall there are some things Titanium cant do that other plates can.

      • Kathy November 29, 2011 at 10:25 AM

I think ceramic plates are good too especially they have different colors to choose from, like pink, white or even baby blue. That’s what titanium plates are lacking.

Question for you: I normally do more straightening than curling, should I get the C1 iron or C2?

        • admin November 29, 2011 at 8:54 PM

That is a good question. I can’t really answer that until I have put the test between C1 and C2.
