CREED ROYAL-OUD, the Royal Scent of Romance

I have never been so wowed by a perfume company like CREED before. With such sense of pride in what is being produced can describe what CREED is all about. Royal-Oud, inspired by elements of wood, leather, marble, and gold found in a royal Persian palace, this unisex fragrance has the perfect balance for both male and female.

According to the website, Royal-Oud owners include members of six U.S. presidential families along with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Princess Catherine. The couple was also greeted by the scent at Santa Barbara Polo Club before it debuted.

CREED Royal-Oud comes in a white cardboard box with CREED logos embossed all over. Oud is more or so an agarwood tree which is primarily found in Southeast Asian countries. Being a responsible company, CREED donates a portion of sales to benefit children in India where this precious ingredient is sourced.

After opening the box there is a small long rectangular card that represents the CREED family from James Creed (1st of the house) to Olivier Creed (6th generation perfumer). Along with this card is a letter regarding the history of the company. Being a family owned business, CREED has been in existence since 1760. The ingredients were sources from the best around the world. The composition after incorporating becomes exceptionally outstanding.

Creed Royal-Oud bottle design is a remarkable luxury. From the cap all the way down to the base is finely designed with precision workmanship that no other can compare. The label and cap are matching in black and gold color.

In the first photo, notice the design on the cap? It is made of piano black plastic with a gold metallic insert in the middle. The design is finished with an engraved CREED logo knob.

In the second photo, on a slight top down view of the back of the bottle, you might notice that the overall design isn’t done in a way of straight lines or square / rectangular shapes. Instead the bottle is very smooth and ergonomically easy to handle. With the palm of the hand gripping the heart of the bottle and the thumb nicely situated on the back spine, holding it feels comfortable.

During a few whiffs of Royal-Oud, there was a faint but somewhat level of complexity towards the composition of woody richness and spiciness combined. Maybe even a bit of smokiness to it. After a spray, the air around was filled with pleasant woodiness with mild hints of sweetness. There was also scent of cedar along with sandalwood. The perfume brought back recollections from parts of my memory as a child when I went camping and a few years back when I traveled to Vancouver Canada. I envision myself being in between Northern Washington state and Canada, right around the border.

There was one thing that left me astonished about Royal-Oud was the smell from the bottle to the scent on me smelled the same. However, when sprayed on my husband, it had hints of woodiness but predominately sweeter instead of spicy. But that wasn’t the point, it was the fact that he isn’t able to wear woody scented fragrances because it will cause a disgusted smell. Royal-Oud is surprisingly quite pleasant on him.

  • Top Notes: A crown of Calabrian lemon, pink berry and Sicilian bergamot.
  • Middle Notes: Cedar, galbanum and angelic root.
  • Base Notes:  Regal Indian oud, sandalwood and Tonkin musk.

Despite my new found love, I have to tell you that I lost count of the longevity towards the scent. What I can recall was when I sprayed, a bit of it got on my shirt and when took a short nap I forgot I still had it on. But what lasted as an impression that even after a day or two, I could still smell the scent around the house. I believe for a fragrance that fills my mind with its rich scent even after a few days, CREED must have done something right.

Creed makes the finest perfume I have ever encountered. I remember a splash of it smells so lux that it doesn’t sting the nose like some other cheap ones.

Creed looks really lux. Something I have never seen before but I can tell that I am going to check it out next time I head over to NM since they seem to be the only ones that have it in stores.

I was going to get this bottle originally but I wanted to settle for something more along the lines of zesty orange like. Woody on me smells totally sweet just like your husband.
