Dinair Airbrush Makeup System Review

Founded over thirty years ago, Dinair Airbrush Makeup system continues to wow everyone with its amazing line of innovations and add-ons. Dinair originated from the film industry doing artwork for actors and actresses creating flawless high definition looks. Later it was brought home to the consumer and mass population, giving everyone the ease and comfort of airbrushing in their own house. It is no wonder, Dinair continues to be the leader.

The box was neatly wrapped with tissue paper and air bags to avoid any mishaps during transit. After opening the box, I found everything to be in perfect order.

Here is a sneak peak at how things look like in the box after removing the air bags. I must say, the packaging during transit was very secure and safe. There was no spillage or damage to anything that was included. The professional of airbrush makeup is also the expert of packaging.

Let’s take a look at the main pouch first. The transparent zippered pouch has the Dinair stylus inside the black airbrush case, a set of makeup and everything else you ever need for an airbrush makeup.

After taking out the white box, I found the compressor with the power cable. As you might notice on the compressor is a big knob and a black ring holder.

Here is an up close shot at the knob. The knob has a rubbery feel to it with a + and – sign. You can turn the knob to the direction of your choice to determine what speed works best for you. It also doubles as an on/off switch. Dinair is probably one of the only in its kind that offers such ease. Now you are able to adjust accordingly!

On the other side of the compressor is a black ring holder. Shaped like a ring, let’s call it a stylus holder now. This stylus holder can rotate out to help you set your stylus when you need to put it down for a bit. It can also be rotated back to this position when you storing the airbrush system.

Look it’s that airbrush case! The stylus is safely sleeping inside the case to avoid scratches or any damage. When you need to use the stylus just pop open the button and take it out.

Here is the stylus! The stylus is at a very comfortable weight and very easy to hold. This stylus has something I really adore and that is the rubbery grip on the lever which doesn’t give you any scratches after prolong use. The caps on the funnel tube and the pointer end also adds value keeping the stylus clean of any dust or particles that may get inside causing a clog.

Here comes the fun part. Shown here are a bundle of joy. There are foundation shades, colors, concealer, and more! Each can be fed inside the funnel for airbrushing fun.

Inside the kit, comes along with instructions for people who like to read and people who like to watch. It is very thoughtful of them to cater to both. There is also a brochure & color chart as well! Why do I get 2 DVDs? Well the one that comes with my system happened to be a corrupted disk. You know things do happen. But what really impressed me was Dinair instantly 2nd day mailed me a replacement. Talking about great customer service. By the way, if you every need to call Dinair, pay attention to what it say when you’re connected. “Spray it, gorgeous!” I think that was really cute.

You may ask, “But what about cleaning the system & what if I am not a pro at drawing on my own face?” Not to worry, there is a brush cleaner and sets of stencils. Those are very easy to use and gets the job done. Probably after a few uses with the stencils, life becomes easier and drawing with Dinair’s makeup system becomes a second nature.

The cleaner comes sealed in a red plug so if you want to take it to travel with you, there’s no chance of spillage.

The instructions for use are on on the back. I really like the fact this cleaner is citrus based. It smells really nice too.

Dinair also comes with a warranty card should your product fail or have problems. Included are also a complimentary lesson giving you helpful insights on using the makeup airbrush. There is also a $5 Dinair dollars for your next purchase.

Also, don’t forget to look over the stencil catalog because you can see something cool! You can use the airbrush system to tattoo! There are so many stencils so it’s like a never ending fun.

Let’s go back to the system now. The system itself is now all ready to go. As you notice I have put the stylus in the holder with the compressor turned on. The way you know it’s on is when the red led light turns on. You will also notice a motor sound coming from the compressor. That’s when you know it’s ready to begin.

I forgot to mention to you that, there are several practice papers from Dinair helping you use your system. Here is a practice sheet on Distance Exercise. You can also download more practice sheets from the website. Practice do make perfect. That’s the same thing with airbrush makeup system. Maybe at first you mess up or it takes longer than you expected, but once you get a hang of it, everything becomes so easy.

As you can see here, I decided to draw a face on this exercise. I wouldn’t say it’s the most perfect one since I am mastering my way through the system but it really is easy to use. I created a look that I am thinking of applying on myself. The stylus during use is very steady but comfortable to hold. Note the lips were done using the eyeshadow shield stencil, so it has a “clean” edge to it.

Remember when not in use replace it with the caps after cleaning the stylus.

Dinair’s airbrush makeup system is really easy to use. I cannot say enough in words about it. They even have a whole slew of accessories readily available for you. So playing with the system becomes endless in fun and the value it brings to you is tremendous. You can go from applying makeup to tattoo or even giving yourself a tanned look. It’s the ultimate in beauty. The add-on colors and makeup are also reasonably low priced. Let alone, the pricing on the refills and colors gives it an edge over some of its fellow competitors. Moreover, you get to mix the colors to suit your own needs. That’s something traditional makeup cannot offer. So by mixing different shades you can match to your skin color to 100%. That’s really amazing.

I think this will be a great present for a bride. How do you think of the foundations? Are they pretty much like the regular foundation or they are different? Can I use the regular foundation for airbrushing?

Yea it’ll sure make a great present for a bride and everyone ^^ The airbrush foundation is totally different from the regular foundation. It’s a lot more watery. You need to use the specialized Dinair foundation for the system.

I’ve never tried airbrush makeup but this sounds so attempting. Do you think the price is worth it?

It’s true that the initial cost is high but you just can’t achieve the same result with a regular foundation. So definitely worth it!

The face chart you did is so cute. I wonder how it looks on real face. How’s the foundation’s lasting power?

Thanks! The color actually looks great on the face. You can not only do foundation but also blush, lips and even eyeshadow. The foundation lasts all day until you take it off. It dries on contact.

Great review! I was thinking of getting the temptu system at Sephora but the Dinair seems a lot customizable and I want to try the tattoo stencils so bad. Maybe I’ll ask for it for my Xmas present.

Dinair colors are really great because you can mix and match any color to get your desired shade. I’m also curious about their fun stencils. I’m thinking of using my Dinair dollar to get some Christmas stencils.

I have the Dinair Pro kit and love every bit of it. I’m glad you liked yours too. It took me a while to get used to it but like you said once you get a hang of it, it works really well.

It took me several times to get things right but it wasn’t “that” hard. Now I just can’t wait to do my makeup everyday.

They do have a cap. It’s that black plastic cap. The one I reviewed was the Studio Beauty Edition.

Hi! I got myself the Personal Pro kit and I was wondering why you got yours with a black hose? Does this mean Dinair will only be providing black hoses to Studio Beauty Edition? Is that available separately? I checked their website they have the black but not sure if it’s compatible with the Personal Pro kit 🙂

I think at the time I got mine it was a black hose. The best person to ask would probably call Dinair directly.

Its a good product. I am having trouble getting assistance or a response when there is a problem with the orders or product. Other than making the problem public via a blog, does anyone know how to get a useful response from them? Ive tried everything short of legal action so far. Very keen to hear back – its becoming too much trouble to deal with them.
