Dior 3 Couleurs Smoky Ready-To-Wear Smoky Eyes Palette 091 Smoky Black Swatch and Review

If there was only one color that could associate with “smoky eyes”, then it would be Black! No other can replace the ever so classic black. Today I will be reviewing Dior’s 3 Couleurs Smoky Ready-To-Wear Smoky Eyes Palette, Smoky Black.

On the top of the box, it says 091 Smoky Black.

This package also has the Ouverture instruction on how to slide to open the case. I guess the Smoky Nude that I got probably was misprinted or something. Check out the scoop about Smoky Nude here.

The specially printed instruction booklet just for Smoky Black.

The case itself is the same as the other palettes with blue CD and the silvery Dior floating on top.

After sliding the palette open the colors are shown along with the two brushes. The case is a really ingenious design because of the mirror being able to pop up and down while you slide the case.

The eyeshadow on the bottom is a dove grey almost with a hint of beige in it.

The top left is matte charcoal black and on the opposite is a silvery blackish gray with fine glitters.

The swatch was taken in natural indoor lighting. From left to right we have dove gray (bottom of palette), charcoal black (top left), and silvery black gray (top right). All the shadows are velvet soft and easy to apply. Except the charcoal black is complete matte, the other two has different textures and finishes. The base dove gray looks almost frosty and it feels the softest among the three. While silvery black has fine glitters/shimmers, it doesn’t feel gritty.

…and finally here is the picture shot with direct sunlight. I really like the grayish sheen on the base color and the starry shimmers on the silvery black.

With the slide to open case design, the idea was very creative and innovative. The pop-up mirror adds a sense of excitement as well. The color pigmentation felt on the lighter side with moderate coverage. You can say it is the Dior way of doing smoky black. To achieve light to massive smokiness, you will be in control by layering and mixing the shades.

I thought this palette was going to be very pigmented but it’s not. It will be great for a daytime smoky. Love it.

Indeed! I like soft smoky eyes for day time look. But you can definitely layer it up for a more intense look.

The palette is gorgeous! I think Nude looks better for me though. Maybe I’ll get another one later on. What’s your suggestion for pale skintone?

You’re the lucky girl with light skin tone, I think most colors would look great on you. I would try Nude and Pink for a natural look and Navy, Black for a more dramatic smoky. But again you should look great with any combination, it really depends on your preference.

I just got the smoky pink and I think it’s really neat. I might as well grab this. The base color is super gorgeous.

I haven’t tried the Smoky Pink yet. You should definitely pick up this one if you like smoky shadows.

I love how this palette doesn’t look overly black so I can slowly build up the pigmentation. Thanks for the swatches.

I have the pink one and I NEVER wear a smoky eye but this is so well done and delicate. It’s great for daytime if you use just the base pink all over and the sparkly grey for a liner. You can make it more dramatic for night time by using the matte dark grey. Amazing as I am a person who doesn’t like smoky eyes on myself but I can wear this. Really nice for middle aged ladies as it’s delicate enough that it won’t make you look tired or like a witch.

Oh you have the pink one! That is great. The way you put it from your context, the dramatic night time and daytime usage makes it really sound enjoyable. I have to admit, the witch part made me laugh. Thanks for stopping in!
