Dior Electric Tropics Catwalk Duo Fluorescent Nail Polish 638 Aloha & Glossy Top Coat Swatch and Review

So summer is right around the corner and I have been thinking of where I want to go this year. I haven’t really gone on a trip or a getaway for quite sometime… Life has been just too busy and time just flies by too quickly.  Well after looking at the name of the nail polish I was like hmm… Boy that would be fantastic if I was in t-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops, especially lying down on the beach with a glass of Mai Tai. I guess the word “Aloha” has just flown pass my head.

Anyways, here is the second limited nail polish set for summer from Dior’s Electric Tropics Collection, 638 Aloha.

Price: $26

Available: Dior.com.

The box really stands out this year, especially with its shiny silver color. Just putting up against the light it really shines compared to the regular dark blue box.  Take a look at the box from all angles, it almost feels aligned with its other products this season such as the lipsticks and lip glosses. Uniformity makes it very organized.

Because Dior is so organized, it also gives you a little instruction booklet where it is an easy read on how to apply both its polish and its top coat. Skimming through the instructions it reads, apply 2 layers of polish and then a layer of top coat.

The bright tropical shade really stands out. It makes you feel warm just like the sun!

This set also comes with its high quality top coat which comes out to $5 when compared to the nail polish at $21.

638 Aloha a hot orange color with a smack of burning red.

If you haven’t noticed yet Dior decided to make its bottle symmetric to the color of its polish which makes the color stand out even more. But that means the bottle is a bit invisible. It’s like a small jar full of liquid surprises.

Here’s a photo of the top coat. For further details on top coat please refer to my other post regarding “Dior Paradise.”

Unlike its sister Paradise being matte, Aloha is almost shiny and glossy to the naked eye even without top coat. The color is nearly full coverage with one swipe.

Now with a second layer, the color becomes more intense and vibrant. It’s true to the bottle.

For the ones who want to see how it looks in direct sunlight, here it is!

And this is what it looks like with camera flash.

Finally, here is the finished product after top coat has been applied. Though I tried to take a photo of with and without top coat side by side, the camera is not sophisticated enough to capture the difference. But there’s still a fine line. The only way you can really tell is to get the polish yourself.

This is yet another electrifying hot shade from Dior. Along with the other fluorescent duo set Paradise, Aloha will sure be the focus of this summer. The color is bold, and vibrant; and the polish itself is impeccable. The consistency is just right, not to runny or too thick. With the help of the wide tapered brush, it coats the entire nail with right amount of polish and dries to a beautiful shiny even finish. The formula is top notch that has super coverage and leaves no brush marks. The Glossy Top Coat is also a must in the set to complete the polish. Not only it speeds up the drying to less than a minute, it also accentuates a mirror effect to the already shiny nail. Once again, Dior polish never disappoints.
