Dior Holiday 2012 Grand Bal Collection Part 2 – Diorific Vernis Diorling Diva Lady Marilyn Swatches and Review

With holiday being right around the corner, that means Christmas is closer than it is. Everyone being jolly and happy because it is going to be a Merry Christmas! There are presents and more presents too. That means Wii U and Assassin’s Creed III is on hubs list of top stuff and for my daughters, toys and more toys! But first a Christmas tree needs to be put up with ornaments. Especially looking shiny and bright…

Dior’s Grand Bal nail set for this coming holiday is brighter and shinier than ever before. They even look like ornament balls to put up on the Xmas tree. There is a total of 4 polishes and here they are all ready to for a ball. But remember not to stay out past midnight, even Cinderella was rushing home…

Dior Grand Bal Collection Diorific Vernis Holiday 2012

The packaging on these are totally golden in all corridors. You can see it from a mile away. The gold isn’t just an eye stunner it is the actual polish inside that is. Each of them come in a highly refined clarity glass with golden applicator caps.

I want to show you how it looks like while uncapped to get an overall experience at how these wonders work. If you look at the second picture you will be able to see the applicator. They don’t have the recent Dior wide tapered brush, instead they’re equipped with regular nail polish brush but with shorter handles. Believe it or not, the brushes are easy to control and they apply effortless.

The first nail polish here is #207 Diorling. It is not an everyday fairy dust that the fairy Tinkerbell dusts around. Instead it is a magical gold dust that holds a few different sized shimmers. What does this translate into? It basically means, there are silver, gold, and bronze shimmers all over but in slightly various sizes. Each nail look dimensional and dazzling after application. Though, I would recommend thinking about the amount of coverage intended. Because the variability is from sheer (middle finger) to opaque (pinky) in 3 coats, with 2 coats (ring finger) being semi-sheer. Not even that, you could also try using it as a top coat. We’ll show you how in the end. Take note that all 4 polish swatches are presented in the same sequence, direct sunlight and camera flash.

Next is the darkest color variation from the collection #901 Diva. Diva is a shimmering midnight black with smoky plum tone. There are both gold and purple shimmers but aren’t visible from afar. If this color was turned into a dress it would be so magnificent. I mean, the black with the shimmers really sparkle pretty. As you can see in the swatches below, pinky is slightly plum toned with less coverage because it was applied with one coat. The other 2 fingers were both applied with 2 coats of polish. The color is intense and full coverage.

What is a winter without a snow-y white color like # 011 Lady? Lady can be seen as a frosted snow-y white color just like walking out and seeing the snow. This white color though is more like the Queen of Winter Wonderland. The application can be streaky if not careful enough but to minimize that go from one stroke at the top to the nail edge and any streakiness will be muted. A double coated application is required for full coverage.

Finally, without red, winter isn’t ever complete. Why? Because a lot of lovey doveyness goes around during the season. It is the sense of passion and love. Luckily #751 Marilyn is around. For some reason, the name of the polish reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. The fiery red color would suit her really well too. Anyway Marilyn is a classy red with a tad bit of jelly appearance on finish. You might see fuchsia tone when applied thinly. This polish is more liquid-y but with superior pigmentation. With a single coat you can reach opaque. When looking at the bottle under the sun, you will find micro shimmers however after applied on the nails, they aren’t visible.

Last but not least, while having some fun with Diorling, I thought why not show a photo of how it looks as a top coat. The verdict? Every color is shiny with gold dust from the fairy. Colors are enhanced more and completely ready for Xmas! Each polish is also transfered into a brand new color. Love the versatility!

Aside from the packaging with the design of a luxurious feel doubled into shiny golden ornaments that could rock a Xmas tree, these colors are so holiday like. Diorling is especially awesome with its dual capabilities of application by itself on the nails or as a top coat. The other colors are very different but all represents the holiday with its own uniqueness.

Dior Grand Bal nail polish collection ($26 each) will be available soon at Dior.com and counters.

I like Diva the most! Diorling is nice too, but I wish it were more opaque!

Diva is really pretty in the sun and my favorite is Diorling over Marilyn. It’s got a unique finish that no single polish can achieve.

The bottle are so different from the polishes we see everyday and the cap is really comfortable to hold. It seems like a pencil grip to me somehow when you can use 3 fingers to securely grab it.

Hello, I just bumped into this italian beauty blog http://www.beautydea.it/dior-grand-bal-make-up-natale-2012/#comment-11419
They clearly used your nailpolish swatches after removing your watermark. I send them a comment, that remains unpublished. I can’t stand this behaviour (and they also have the nerve to warn against any reproduction of THEIR site contents!!) Sorry, I don’t like playing this part but internet doesn’t mean “far west”, at least to me.

Thank You for bringing it to our attention. It really sucks but things like this happen to us all the time especially on Ebay and other sites.

Lady was actually swatched as the 3rd polish. The last photo was just showing how Diorling performed as a top coat.
