Dior Holiday 2012 Temporary Skin Jewels 24 Karat Gold Tattoo and Grand Bal False Lashes – Holiday Collection Part 3

Recently I got an invitation card and a set of false lashes to a ball. It reads “Grand Bal.” I thought, hmm… what does all these mean? The boxes and envelope all look such grand and luxurious. It’s like they have pure gold melted on all over. You know, the shiny stuff that makes everyone’s eyes wide open instantaneously? Looking rather closely after opening them up, I realized WOW… this must be for a MASQUERADE BALL for the holiday season. Hiding one’s identity with a mask or with drawings on the face. Unfortunately, upon a closer look, nope it wasn’t for the face rather for the body!

So anyways, you might be asking what is inside the envelope. We begin with the letter in question.

Dior Holiday 2012 Grand Bal False Lashes 24 Karat Gold Temporary Tattoos

On the front of the envelope is the description itself, Les Ors de Peau Bijoux de Peau Ephemeres Or 24 Carats. Translated is Temporary Skin Jewels 24 Karat Gold. So you could pretty much say the inside is filled with tattoos but not just any tattoos, they are 24 karat gold! Reading the small print on the bottom states 9 designs.

By the way, the envelope is sealed by Dior and is to be opened by the lucky madam.

Inside the envelope holds the card (book) from Dior that is accentuated with gold accents around the 4 corners. It has a hefty weight to it, because the book’s pages are made with thick heavy weighted paper. Each one of the books are serial numbered due to highly limited quantity.

Besides the numbers, there is a page of description as to the history of Dior and his love for gold. In a nut shell, it was when Christian Dior was in his early years of career where he found a fascination of gold. He later took gold and refined it into the signature of the house and a lot of his couture outfits were adorned by gold accessories. Fast forwarding to modern day, Camille Miceli, the Creative Director of Costume Jewelry, created these Golden Tattoos which would melt directly onto the skin.

Dior, the true genius of our time, whose magical name includes the words ‘Dieu’ and ‘Or’ – God and Gold

There is also an instructions page at the end of the book with illustrations and text as to how to use these wonderful golden tattoos.

Here is an overview of all 9 designs. Some look great for the ears, while some are for the wrists and possibly even the upper arm. They just look stunningly pretty. I would probably wear these only on a special occasion or maybe I wouldn’t!

Next I will be showing you a picture of each tattoo up close.

Here are the 2 Wrist Chains. Looks rather grand with a lock designed with the word Dior.

Besides the wrist, there are 2 Heart Rings beneath.

…and a C D Ring in the middle of the 2 hearts.

You probably seen this somewhere or rather all the time if you’re a true Dior fan. It is the D-I-O-R Charm which can be found on purses and a few makeup products.

I’ve never seen this design before but it’s rather cute. Reminds me a little of my daughter’s favorite toy doll, Lalaloopsy. Anyways, this is a Dior Dollisimio Charm.

This next one here is a Pearl Drop Charm with Christian Dior logo. I wish this was made into an ornament, it would be terrific for a Xmas tree.

Last but not least, this is a Line A Interlaced Bangles. Don’t you think it looks already quite dimensional?

Besides the tattoos that were just seen, there are also two false lashes for the Grand Bal. Putting it out there, they are 001 Pearl Drops and 002 Gold Crystals. Each was housed in a magnificent golden carton just like the Diorific lipsticks we featured in part 1 and Diorific Vernis in part 2 of the holiday collection.

These lashes come in a clear sliding case to protect the lashes. Each of these dramatic lashes adds a final glamorous touch to a completed look.

Inside each box, there is a lash glue that is ready to use. So there is no need to search for one around the house or even have to go out and buy one. The lash glue is strong enough to hold throughout the evening should you go for a dance.

Now going in depth, 001 Pearl Drops is designed with 3 silver pearl drops at the outer edge. It is very eye catching over the intense black lashes. The pears almost look like tear drops, I think they look very feminine.

The Gold Crystals design is more of a showstopper. It features soft gold Swarovski crystals all along the lash-line. The criss-cross design at the inner half adds more volume to the lashes while the outer half really lengthens the eyes.

Last but not least, here is the enclosed instructions to affix the lashes on and how to remove them. Note these lashes are multi-usable.

Needless to say, both the temporary tattoos and false lashes are drop dead gorgeous. They are definitely the highlight of the entire holiday collection. Though I really can’t tell you if the tattoos are easy to apply or not because they’re too precious for everyday wear and I don’t have the courage to touch them. But one thing I can tell from just looking at them, is that they’re precisely crafted, and very shiny in person. These would be the hottest makeup/accessory for the special occasion, for example grand holiday party. Wear one of these tattoos will make you sparkle from miles away. Or have a wedding planned on the way? These tattoos come first on the wedding registry. But if you’re a collector like me, your beauty vault is calling out loud.

For the false eyelashes, you’ll probably see me wear them sometime later. I love how dramatic they look but light weight enough to not drag your eyes down. I’ve seen some really heavy feather lashes in the past which were uncomfortable to wear and hardly stay in place. But the Dior lashes seem to be quite flexible. So I’m sure they’ll get a lot of wear.

Both the Tattoos (MSRP $120) and False Lashes (MSRP $28 each) will be available this Holiday at Dior.com.

SO amazingly luxurious! I’ve got some temporary Dior tattoos with the Addict Extreme launch. Not nearly as bling but still, I should probably take them out and wear them for fun 🙂

I think the tattoos are use once though… Well they are too luxurious so I want to actually keep them in the vault forever.

I love to look at these! So beautiful! I totally don’t think I could use any of them, though lol

That’s why you need to keep them safe in the vault or a locker. 🙂

You can’t really be suggesting that anyone in this economy would pay $120 for the privilege of sticking these tattoos in a vault, can you? The idea only makes sense if, like you, one receives these things for free. And with something this frivolous, I’d need to know that someone actually paid money for them to believe a review.

Other than this item, though, your site is useful for swatches, and I don’t mean to sound rude. I just think sometimes bloggers forget that the rest of us don’t shell out $120 for something they’ll never use, not even once!

First of all, we write posts/reviews solely based on product itself. No matter whether it’s a press sample or something we bought, the opinions would be always true and honest. As for the price tag of the Tattoos, here’s my thoughts. How would you price tag fashion, including designer clothes and even makeup? Do you think a Chanel handbag is worth several thousand dollars? Some people think it’s way over priced, while some people think it’s worth every penny. It all depends on our personal view, right? Besides, these tattoos are made of 24 karat gold, of course the price will reflect that. Maybe it’s not for everyone, but a real makeup junkie and Dior fan like myself would love to have it.
Last but not least, thanks for reading our blog and letting us know your thoughts.
