Dior Makeup Summer 2012 Croisette Collection Swatches and Review

What is a Summer without vibrant colors? Dior’s Summer 2012 makeup has all the colors ranging from the sea / marine life to tanned healthy looking colors. Lovers of beach and sand can now rejoice because there are colors that suit one another if not both!

If you haven’t seen the press release on Dior’s Summer 2012 collection yet check it out here.

Starting out the series are the Dior 5-Couleurs eyeshadow palettes. These palettes are so detailed and quite vibrant in color. Each palette is embossed with pleating which looks almost like sunbursts. Not to mention they are very appropriate for summer. There are two limited color variations.

224 Swimming Pool is created with inspiration of a dive into the Mediterreanian Sea. Fresh aquatic colors include sky, sea water, corals, and marine life can be seen in the palette.

The colors are as follows:

Top Left – Light Pink.
Top Right – Grayish White with hints of blue understone.
Center – Sky Blue.
Lower Left – Sea foam Turquoise.
Lower Right –  Shell Beige.

Contrary to my initial impression from looking at the palette, these colors are very soft, muted, and subtle all in a good way. Sometimes when I am relaxing, I love going out to the beach and staring at the sea while unloading my brain of junk. These colors give me that effect. The soft shimmers give the lids a more natural marine look.

*Left to Right swatches are identical to the palette going from top left, top right, center, lower left, and lower right*

The other 5-Couleurs eyeshadow 654 Aurora is a warm toned sunny sandy palette inspired by sunbathing and beach.

Each color is as follows:

Top Left – Sunset Gold.
Top Right – Metallic Chocolate Brown.
Center – Highlighting Pink.
Bottom Left – Natural Beige.
Bottom Right – Electric Copper Orange.

Aurora is a palette that brings a tanned, healthy, glowy look to the eyes. Each color not only contains dazzling shimmers, it also contains high pigmentation. The colors are quite vibrant and metallic in appearance.

*Left to Right swatches are identical to the palette going from top left, top right, center, lower left, and lower right*

If you take a look at the palettes side by side you will notice that Swimming Pool is a cooler toned palette compared to the warm toned Aurora and the difference is quite dramatic. Both palettes reminded me of going to the beach. Swimming pool reminded me of swimming, diving, and even cruising! Aurora gave me an impression of sunbathing, tanning, and getting a healthy look under the sun. The pleating pattern on both palette is stunningly gorgeous.

Dior’s 1-Couleur Eye Gloss is a brand new thing to the brand. When I tried these out for the first time I was quite astonished and they are something different. Each eye gloss utilizes a gel eyeshadow formula. These eye glosses come in both Tan and Sunset. You might mistaken the packaging design to be lipglosses. However, these are a bit smaller than the lippies. Both eye glosses come packed with shimmers bringing a highlighted and shiny look to the eyelids.

Inside the eye gloss tube, there is a angled doe foot tip which picks up enough product for a single application.

Here is 560 Tan. The color is gold with accents that make it look like a healthy glow.

750 Sunset is a peach color with a hints of red filled with golden shimmers.

A lovely addition to the DIORSHOW Liner Waterproof is 258 Turquoise. The build on this liner is a retractable pencil where you can twist and turn. On the opposite end of the cap is the sharpener. If you take a look at the second photo, you can see the the sharpener that is pulled out. There is a built-in blade on it so you can simply inset the pencil and turn. Each time it gives you a perfectly sharpened liner.

Here are the swatches of the 1-Couleur Eye Glosses and the DIORSHOW Liner. Do note that left of the eyeliner are glosses that I will talk about in a bit.

In the center is the Turquoise eyeliner which brings an easy to use formula with instantaneous color upon drawing. The pencil is very soft and creamy. Both 1-Couleur Eye Glosses, Tan on the left and Sunset on the right, are super sparkly and easily blendable. The gel like formula is long lasting and hydrating with a fresh cooling sensation.

Dior Addict Ultra-Glosses are so shiny in the tube and very eye catching. The colors are easy to use and suit any occasion for summer.

432 Brown Panama – Shimmery Golden Brown.
464 Pink Croisette – Shimmery Hot Neon Pink.
542 Pareo Orange –  Shimmery Electrifying Orange with a Flare.

Here are two photos depicting the colors in the sun. You can see the shimmers floating around in the second photo.

To see each color in detail, here are some mug shots of the colors.

Now, here is a continuation from the left of the eyeliner swatch picture six photos above. Each lip gloss is swatched and you can see the shimmers are filled with pigmentation. Each lip gloss feels very creamy and after use the lips look quite full if not pouty or even luscious.

Here is the full shot of the swatch photo without any cut offs.

Now here comes the new Dior Addict Lip Balm and Lipsticks. I’ve been a big fan of the Lip Balm ever since it came out several years ago. It gives my lips a healthy glow while protecting them from chapping and drying. So naturally I’m thrilled to see it comes with a new shade, 003 Crystal Coral, pictured on the bottom. Note the pink packaging of the lip balm compared to the pearly clear lipsticks.

The Dior Addict lip balm features a nourishing formula that is packed with moisturizing oils mixed in with hyaluronic acid to protect the lips. 003 Crystal Coral is obviously a Coral color with subtle golden crystal shimmers.

The packaging of Dior Addict Lipsticks is pretty much the same as before which is a clear case with shiny silver accents. It has a futuristic look that is cutting edge in design. I love how it changes colors in the sun.

Here is a look at the colors of the lipsticks in the tube. Each color are as follows:

354 Palace – Subtle Pink without the Fling.
414 Casual Gold – Brownish Nude.
544 Jet Set – Sunset Orange with fire. The color reminds me of last year’s limited edition lipstick 545 Fire too (swatched here). Even the shade number is close.

After swatching the lipsticks and the lip balm, I noticed that the lip balm is sheer and glowy. The lip balm might be mistaken to be a lip stick because how smooth it looks. Each lipstick is quite creamy but subtle as well. They aren’t bold like the Dior Addict Extremes (swatched here).

*From Left to Right is: 354 Palace, 414 Casual Gold, 544 Jet-Set, and lip balm 003 Crystal Coral*

Last on the list are the nail polishes. They are 231 Bikini and 401 St. Tropez. For St. Tropez I have already wrote about it last year where you can find the link here to read all about it.

Bikini is hot coral color that is glossy with a creamy finish. There are no shimmers which leaves the color as true to the look as possible. Pigmentation is quite good that you can do one coat or two, but two coats are preferred for a flawless coverage.

For Summer Dior has come out with a makeup collection that everyone can use. Regardless you are the subtle type or the bold type or even from surfer to tanner it doesn’t matter! The colors are simply great on everyone. No matter how you wear them, you’ll look Summer appropriate and totally elegant, needless to say the collection has caught my full attention.

Orange Pareo looks really interesting. I wonder how it would look on my lips.

Orange Pareo reminds me of last year’s Fire for some reason. Although Fire wasn’t a gloss it was quite nice for a lippy.

The single color eye gloss looks really interesting. I thought glosses were usually for lips.

I wonder why they didn’t make Dior Addict Extreme for the lippies.

Glad that Dior is putting out more matte eyeshadow quads. I always feel hard pressed to find more matte shades when I scan their eyeshadow palette selection…

Dior Bikini wins on formula and glossiness. Color wise is a bit different. Bikini is a bit muted in color.
