It’s time to go on vacation, maybe even the beach, or hitting the streets in flip flops / shorts / t-shirt. For some reason, every year when summer comes around, I think about beauty products being orange or maybe shades of orange. This year is extra special. Dior has created a Summer Mix Collection featuring vibrant, bold, flashy, and eye catching colors for both lips and nails. I will be featuring the nails today, stay tuned for the lips!
Dior Summer Mix 2012 comes in 4 very colorful nail polishes that are appropriate for the season! The colors bring character and livelyhood to anyone. As you can see the shades include 118 Acapulco, 158 Calypso, 178 Cosmo, and 198 Lagoon. For this collection, Dior opted for high gloss silver packaging to bring an extra coolness to combat the heat of summer. One other thing that worth mentioning is that the collection is all about cream (non-shimmer) and gloss (high shine), but in delicious sorbet-like candy colors. You’ll see the swatches below.
Starting the series off with the brightest color, 118 Acapulco, it is a brilliant yellow that shines and highlights the hands. Acapulco is a straight pure lemon-y yellow with a touch of warmth.
With all the yellow nail polishes, it’s like a curse that they tend to be troublemakers when it comes to application. Usually they’re too thick or too streaky to perform an even finish. Acapulco is by far the most easiest yellow polish to work with. It does get a bit trickier than the rest of the collection as you will notice some brush marks with the first coat. But when you apply the second coat, the color becomes completely opaque and it’s as flawless as it can be. Not to mention glossy it looks as well as fast drying. Acapulco claims to be the leader of the pack for yellow polish.
158 Calypso is a deep crimson red with high gloss that shines upon a touch of light. This classy red is hotter than fire.
Here is the color swatched with two different angle shots and a sun light photo at the end. Much similar to Cosmo, Calypso almost has a neon kind of jelly look to it. You can totally get away with just one coat for some sheerness. For more intense full coverage, two coats are perfect. Application is also foolproof, I see no reason you will mess up with it.
178 Cosmo is another sorbet jelly color in the stylish hot pink with hints of red. It brings a more feminine side right out of the bottle.
This princess like Cosmo carries high gloss which reflects light like a mirror. Flawless application can be achieved with either one coat or two coats application, depending on how intense you prefer it. The first two photos are taken indoor with different light directions. The last photo is with sunlight.
Last but not least is 198 Lagoon. Lagoon is a color that is different than the other shades in this series. It is a bold yet refreshing blue with hints of peacock green. It reminds me of the shoreline at Mediterranean riviera.
Lagoon’s color is just like that, rich, audacious and mysteriously cool. The nail polish’s glossiness makes the blue shine like lacquer.
Lastly, here is a final glimpse of the colors side by side.
From yellow to red and pink and finally a darker shade of blue, Dior’s Summer Mix collection caters to colors for all occasions. The formula and coverage are perfection with effortless application process. The mirror-like glossy finish makes your nails look like you have put on top coat. All four colors are bright and vivid, super fun for summertime. You can coordinate these colors with your outfit or mix and match them for a more stylish look. Dior Summer Mix Collection also contains 4 Ultra Glosses which are featured here.
