Colors that are neutral with silky texture is something that can be worn and adored everyday. Recently, I come across 4 brand new nail polishes from Dior Nude Collection which is launching this fall. They are not only the most elegant and trendiest neutrals, but also remind me of human skin color. The colors are so well suited for the world we live in today with multinational cultures from around the world. If you don’t think of it that way, you could think of being stranded in the middle of the desert and all you see are colors similar to this set. Examples could be a camel, oasis, and of course the sand itself. Don’t forget to minus out the greens and maybe even the water color blue, since we don’t have those tones in this set. These are just the many things that come to mind when I see these.
The magnificent four colors are 115 Charnelle, 223 Trench, 413 Grège, and 715 Dune.
Charnelle is the most sheerest color of the bunch. It not only looks natural but it gives the nails a healthy look. It can be used as a perfect french base as well! Much similar to many Dior creme polishes, Charnelle also contains subtle amounts of micro shimmers which aren’t very noticeable to the eyes, but definitely giving the nails more dimensions and shines.
The swatches are in the following order: natural indoor, camera flash and direct sunlight.
Trench is a color that looks like dark chocolate crossing a mix of creamy milk. It isn’t the darkest shade in brown neither is it the lightest. However, it is perfectly glossy and smooth in color after 2 coats of application.
Grege reminds me most of a coat for fall. It’s like an overcoat that you would wear during days when it is windy or even in light rain. This color would probably go really well with desert / jungle apparel. The creaminess of this color with a glossy top makes this light gold like khaki color melts into your nails flawlessly. Caramel can also be used to describe this color.
Last but not least, Dune! The darkest and most fall-ish color in the collection. This color is an absolute brown with mixtures of dark grey bringing it into the darker shades of chocolate tones. Dune stands out not only in a darker shade but its shimmers also adds a little sparkle effect even though it is subtle.
Our final photo is the 4 colors swatched on the nail wheel side by side.
Here are several comparison shots requested by Carol. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to compare Trench to neither Chanel’s Khaki Rose nor Sephora by OPI’s Metro Chic because I don’t own those polishes and I couldn’t think of anything that’s close to Trench at this moment =(
So for Grege, I have the following 3 polishes:
Dior Vernis 662 Camel from Mitzah Collection, swatched here
Dior Vernis 219 Beige Safari from Blue Tie Collection, swatched here
Chanel Le Vernis 567 Beige Petale from Summer 2011 Les Fleur D’Ete De Chanel Collection, swatched here
Compare to Grege, Camel is more yellow toned and Beige Safari is lighter. Apparently Beige Petale is nothing close to Grege, it’s much sheerer than it looks in the bottle.
For Dune comparison, we have these 3 polishes:
Dior Vernis 615 Bengale from Fall 2012 Golden Jungle Collection, swatched here
Dior Vernis 912 Ebony from Mitzah Collection, swatched here
Dior Vernis 824 Underground from Rock Your Nails Collection, swatched here
The closest to Dune is Bengale, both Ebony and Underground are darker.
Dior Nude Collection is filled with pretty neutrals that are much more wearable than bright and bold colors like reds or blues or even blacks. If there is such a thing as different shades of black unless if you count cross breeds of blacks with other colors. Anyways, the nail polishes require 2 coats to give a perfect end to end coverage. But the formula is very creamy yet smooth and easy to apply. The finish is unmatchably glossy with fast drying speed. I know the micro shimmers look more visible in the bottle than they do on the nail, but it is more for the subtle look vs a whole nail full of shimmers glaring at people’s eyes asking for attention or even unwanted attention at most. If you love nudes, neutrals, then this set is great for you!
By the way, these nude polishes complement the new Rouge Dior Nude Lipcolors that are also coming this fall. So for the nude color lovers, that’ll be double the joy. Stay tuned for the follow up post.
Dior Vernis Nude Collection will be available on counter this fall, as well as online at www.Dior.com.
