Get The Look: 2012 Emmy Award Winning Actress, Julie Bowen

I’m lucky to work with Julie Bowen who has beautiful, even skin. As a nominee, I wanted her to look her best. I began by prepping her skin with Clarins Extra-Firming Day Cream and Clarins Total Eye Concentrate.

I then applied Clarins Beauty Flash Balm with a wet sponge evenly on her face and neck. This is my new favorite product because, not only can it act as a primer, but it’s great to use throughout the day if touch ups are necessary.

Next, I mixed two shades of sheer foundation with a wet sponge, Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation in chestnut 113 and in cream 104. I also used Clarins Instant Light Brush-On Perfector in 00 Light Beige under her eyes to perfect her skin.

Julie always looks great with a smoky eye! I started with black and grey, MAC Eyeshadow in Carbon and NARS Matte Eyeshadow in Thunderball, and smudged the colors along her lash line. Then, I applied a chocolate shadow, NARS Matte Eyeshadow in Bengali, along the crease area. Next, I highlighted the area just under the brow bone with a soft white shimmer from the NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Pandora. I used Covergirl Lineblast 24 Hour Eyeliner in black along the lash line to emphasis her lashes. I used my favorite mascara Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara in black. Lastly, I defined her brows with Tarte emphasEYES waterproof pencil in taupe.

For her cheeks, I used NARS Cream Blush in Lokoum – tawny nude with pink shimmer, and focused mostly on the apples of the cheek to give a dewy glow. I like to apply cream blush with a brush making sure to blend well. I also like to use a bronzer to act as a contour, and I put it all along the areas of the face that would naturally be contoured (cheekbones, under jaw area).

Because the focus of the look was Julie’s eyes, I didn’t want too much color on her lips. I used MAC lip liner in Etcetera, and a gloss with just a hint of a blush color – MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass in Next Fad.

Once the mascara was dry and everything was finished, I sprayed Clarins Fix’Makeup to set “the look.”

“My last – and best – tip to all my clients leaving for the red carpet is to put the Clarins Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate in their clutches. Perfect to help keep your skin looking matte all night, without layering on additional powder, which can make you look cakey!” – Heather Currie, make up artist
