Guerlain Rouge Automatique Lipstick 141 Quand Vient L’été Swatch and Review

Bummer! Right after Sephora’s Friends and Family sale at late April, these babes hit the store. I wish they were available earlier so I could snag some deals as well check them out in person. Though I wasn’t specifically thrilled with my first Rouge Automatique purchase, I’m not giving up. So what did I take home this time?

The shade I picked up was 141 Quand Vient L’été. The name of the shade was only printed on the outside box but not on the actual lipstick. Wonder why…

These lipsticks have a really cool mechanism that they can be opened with only one hand. Read my previous post for detailed explanation. But this is what the lipstick looks like when it’s fully extracted. It may look short but it’s a standard 3.5g.

141 Quand Vient L’été is a classic coral color with dewy sheen. I find the veins quite interesting. Why do lipsticks have those veins? Does anyone know?

This is a close up swatch on the back of my hand under sunlight. It seems creamy and feels like so too. Surprising this shade isn’t as drying as 162. And the pigmentation is great. This is only with one swipe.

Pika pika time! Hope you’re not sick with my lips. This is indoor lighting.

Direct sunlight

Flash on. The fine mica shimmers reflect a lot of lights into the camera, that’s why it looks so glossy and shiny. But in real life, the shine is quite muted and sophisticated. I rather call it a dewy sheen.

Luckily I went back and revisited these lipsticks even though I felt my first Rouge Automatique lack of moist. This shade is so much better than 162 Bloom of Rose. It goes on super smoothly and feels like silk. The coverage is superb, and it melts into your skin. It’s almost like your real lip color. Lasting power is also above average. I get over 5 hours of wear time for this shade. Only wish it was priced lower.

Also thanks to Sephora’s bother-free shopping environment. I was at the counter for a good 30 minutes without anyone butt in.

The color is gorgeous! Goes to show how much I know about lipstick, I was expecting a red color on your lips ^^; That’s also a very creative design!! I wonder if it will ever become mainstream? 🙂

i agree the design is really trend setting. i wouldn’t be surprised if another similar design pop up in the market, just like how many brands have their own “meteorites”.

Wow! I really love this shade. I don’t know if I love it $35 worth…but it’s really great. Aaah so tempting! I’ll have to find a dupe.

i also love how wearable the shade is. you can probably find a dupe but sadly the packaging can’t be found elsewhere. $35 is an indulge once in a while =)
