Koh Gen Do (江原道) MANIFANSHI Lip Gloss in Sheer Berry Swatch and Review

Recently with the season change, my lips are really dry and they are almost prone to peeling. I was hesitant to use any lipsticks thinking they may exaggerate my lip lines and making them even drier. But a pure lip balm won’t look good either. I am in need of a lip product that’s both hydrating and look pretty. Luckily I got Koh Gen Do MAIFANSHI Lip Gloss in Sheer Berry.

Koh Gen Do is a high quality product made in Japan that all began over 20 years ago. There was a TV actress who was concerned with her makeup and skin care because of all the long grueling hours put on set. The actress began a search for makeup that would protect her from the excessive dryness and exhaustion from the harsh environment. Koh Gen Do was then born.

Each Koh Gen Do MAIFANSHI Lip Gloss comes in at 0.25 oz @ $25 from KohGenDoCosmetics.com. It has a total of 6 shades with Sheer Berry being a limited edition. There is also a gift set trio available on the website.

The lip gloss promises not to contain any of these: artificial colors, fragrance, petroleum based mineral oil or paraben. Instead it is packed with Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Olive Squalane, Perilla Ocymoides Seed Oil, Yogurt Extract, Honey. It sounds super yummy, isn’t it.

According to Koh Gen Do, Sheer Berry is a hint of blush and pout with a soft glitter of red light-polarizing glass pearls. While taking a shot of the tube with sunlight reflecting off it, I noticed the subtle shimmers inside the bottle.

The design of this lip gloss is simple but practical. The angled dispenser hugs the lips perfectly while it doesn’t waste a single drop of product. The tube is also small enough to fit in any makeup bag.

After squeezing a bit on my hand, I instantly feel the moisturizing effect and not to talk about the juicy color.

Then I used the applicator tip to smooth out the gloss, it works wonderfully. The berry color evens out into a thin layer, it becomes a rather sheer delicate red with subtle shimmers scattered throughout.

I can’t wait to apply it on my lips. Just a few squeezes and swipes, my dry lips are instantly soothed. It feels light weight yet nourishing. I can tell it’s really made with honey because it feels exactly like a thin layer of honey on the lips. You should try rub your lips against each other, the sensation is luxurious and fun. There was absolutely no friction. The color goes on pretty sheer as the name suggests and the shimmers are really subtle, but the shine and glossiness are like no other. It makes my lips look fuller and the fine lines are filled flawlessly.

For the ones who prefer a more pigmented coverage, you can also paint your lips with a lip liner first then apply the lip gloss. It’s equally beautiful.

Koh Gen Do MAIFANSHI Lip Gloss is my newly found favorite. The scent free formula and moisturizing ingredients make this lip gloss super comfortable to wear. It has gorgeous natural color when providing added treatment benefits. If you are looking for a high shine, non sticky, healthy looking long lasting lip gloss, this is definitely a must have!

KGD is a really nice brand. I saw them at Barney’s before but never really had a chance to go into it. They have since expanded into Sephora.

I saw this brand at Barney’s, they are so unique and offer a variety of different never seen cosmetics and skincare. I just thought this brand wasn’t as widely available as now.
