Laura Mercier Holiday 2012 Glamour Wardrobe Dual Decker Colour for Eyes Cheeks & Lips Swatches Review
The dual decker palette from a few days ago is none other than Laura Mercier’s Glamour Wardrobe. It is complete with everything you need, and small enough to carry around without the extra bulkiness. Colors are magnificent and the combination to play around it seems to be so much that this palette might be the only one needed for a quick getaway to Hawaii. There is also a lot more goodies from this Holiday Collection than it seems, check out the press.
Earlier in the month, there were other sets from the brand about pencils and lip glaces. Now, let’s see what a more consolidated wardrobe of colors look like in full detail. So there might not be a need for anything else on a trip. Do note, that this palette might even make a great stocking stuffer. If it doesn’t fit in one you can always leave it half way out on the top after filling the stocking with other goods.
The palette itself comes in a hard zipped shell. Color wise, it is pretty much the dark brown that I remember from last year. Although design is different. If you are curious to see how last year was, check out the portfolios.
After unzipping the pouch, the first thing you would notice is the top deck that holds eight eyeshadows and two brushes. Everything looks smooth and the colors are very coordinating.
To access the bottom deck for lip and cheek colors, slide the top part out. It’s easy! If you haven’t noticed yet, opposite of the colors is a full size mirror so when you’re out and about, you wouldn’t be coloring your nose or your forehead since the mirror is there to help.
The colors for both decks are listed on the back of the box. Some of the names are even related to food! Buttercream… Coffee Ground… and Papaya… I could make a recipe that calls for those 3 ingredients and turn it into possibly a cake or even some sort of dessert. Laura Mercier does have an excellent body set that reminds me of dessert too!
Starting off with the top deck. Every eyeshadow is easily swatched on. They are pigmented as they are smooth on application. The color combinations are quite much more on the lighter side with a bit of warmth to them. The eight shadows consist a range of finishes including matte, sateen and high pearl luster.
On the bottom deck, there are two lip glazes that are bold in color with the other three being a bit more natural. They are moisturizing when applied on and not dry at all. The texture is very soft, so try not to dip the lip brush too hard into the pan. Also the pigmentation is quite amazing, so just several light swipes is all you need for a glamorous set of lips. The four sheer creme cheek colors from this palette really highlights the face from luminous to radiance. They are highlighting in a few different ways from the color choices. Again they are smooth and pigmented.
Last but not least, here is a shot of the 3 enclosed brushes for you to see. Two are single sided with one being double sided. Two fo them are for the eyes and the lighter colored brush is for lips. The bristles on all brushes are soft to the touch which is nice for travel brushes.
The ease of simply carrying a single box of colors from the eyes to the cheeks and finally ending at the lips makes my life so much easier when on the go. Not to mention the brushes and mirror are included too! Anyways, the formula on all three aspects of this wardrobe is stupendous. This wonderful palette brings the value to the buck and frees up so much room!
