Les Jeans De Chanel Fashion’s Night Out Nail Polish Blue Boy Swatch and Review

Yesterday, during Fashion Night Out, I did a quick swatch on all three polishes from Chanel’s exclusive Les Jeans De Chanel Collection. Today, I will be showing them in a more detailed manner.

I am going to start off with Chanel’s Blue Boy nail polish. Doesn’t the color look like a pair of denim jeans?

Description on Chanel:

The deep, rich blue of denim is captured in this trend-defining hue, part of the exclusive collection LES JEANS DE CHANEL developed by Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, in celebration of Fashion’s Night Out. Dressed in Blue Boy, fingernails reflect the fashionable and quintessential cool of jeans and heels.

Chanel Blue Boy is Limited Edition and sells for $29 on Chanel.com.

The indoor lighting on the nail polish bottle sports a true denim like blue polish.

In direct sunlight, we can see that the polish itself holds no shimmers, sparkles, or anything.

I was very curious to see how Blue Boy would pan out because the bottle seems to be of nothing special upon just staring at it. It’s like just one solid color. Though both being denim shades, Blue Boy is a lot different than Dior’s Blue Denim, it feels more like a smoky denim with a vintage look.

My first test was putting a single coat on my nails. The finish was a tad sheer considering how rich the color looks in the bottle. As a matter of  fact, Blue Boy has the lightest in consistency and weakest coverage out of the 3. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s still very nicely pigmented, just not as pigmented as it seems in the bottle.

I then went ahead and put on another coat and it ended up looking perfect. It is a creme polish but with extreme glossy finish. See how shiny it looks even without a top coat.

Shot with sunlight.

So I decided to apply a top coat and see the difference. I used my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. After it dries, I can barely tell much difference besides it gives the nails a more gel finish, most likely because Seche Vite has a thicker consistency and formula.

The next few shots are all different angled shots in direct sunlight with the topcoat on. No matter from which angle and degree, the nails just look completely even and super shiny.

Chanel’s Blue Boy came out of the bottle as a really nice formula that has both the characteristics of glossiness and creme. Even though one coat goes on sheer, a second coat instantly makes it truly opaque. The polish is so easy to apply, self leveling and streak free. What’s more is the nail polish didn’t even need topcoat to achieve such a high standard. Although I used Seche Vite, I can probably live without using that topcoat. However, do note that each topcoat is made differently so results could vary.

It is a nice color, but I would not buy it. I prefer more electric shades of blue on my nails.

Ahh you are looking for more sparkly blue. What about Coco Blue? That blue is a light blue but has shimmers in it.

This blue from my understanding is like a pair of jeans. The only thing is the creme factor and glossiness that makes this blue stand out. The formula is excellent though compared to some of their previous nail polishes.

Honestly I love your 1 coat swatch better, it looks very sheer but unique.

Well it does look a bit unique in a way… but just looking at it in the bottle it seems very pigmented. Who would have know that it was sheer. :X

I think Chanel really likes the word boy recently. There is a lipstick named boy too.
