Make Your Nail Polish Last Longer

While I’m doing some nail polish posts lately, I figure that I should share some tips with you all. Hope it helps.

Tip #1: Make sure your nails are completely dry and clean before doing your manicure. Avoid soaking instead go for a dry manicure. Use ph balancing agent or a polish remover to get rid of moisture and natural oils on your nails also help polish stick better.

Tip #2: Always use a good base coat and let it dry. It not only helps the polish stay longer but also keeps your nails from turning yellow.

Tip #3: Don’t pile on polish. Do 2 or 3 thin coats instead of 1 thick coat. Remember “less is more”. The least amount of coats you apply, the longer the polish lasts. It gives better coverage, dries faster and minimize air bubbles.

Tip #4: Instead of painting right from the cuticle, leave a small space away from it. You’re less likely to get skin irritation. Also remember to cap the free edges as well. This will prevent polish from peeling and chipping.

Tip #5: Always wear a top coat and refresh it every other night. It give your nails an extra seal against crackign and chipping.

Tip #6: Keep your nails away from water as much as possible. Water is the biggest enemy to your nails. Wear gloves when doing dishes.

Tip #7: Store your nail polish in a dark cool place. This will give you a good start for your manicure and also extend the shelf life of your polish.

you do need to wait for the polish to dry for a bit or else you’ll run the risk of sliding it off. i ruined mine a couple times before. you can use a quick drying top coat if in a hurry.

please make sure the polish dries thoroughly between coats. Because if the first coat didn’t dry and still evaporating, you put on a second coat, the air will be trapped underneath causing bubbles. Also only roll the polish in your hands no shaking =)

great tips! I always forget the top coat, so my nail polish always chips easily. Must remember to purchase one next time I go shopping!

Same as nic nic….I’m giving my nails a breather but all good tips… I never thought of starting with a nail polish remover first to get nails super dry before putting on the base coat.
