NARS Makeup Removing Water Review

NARS’ new item this season includes an all new Makeup Removing Water. It is soap-free, oil-free, and alcohol-free. If a makeup remover is free of all these agents, it must be really gentle. But does it really work? Let’s take a look.

This makeup remover comes in a drip hole. The hole is small enough so that there won’t be too much product coming out when dispensed.

In order to enjoy this makeup remover, you would first need to find a cotton pad. Then you just place the cotton pad on the drip hole and prop the bottle upside down, the remover starts flowing out slowly and gently. To remove makeup, gently sweep over the face.

I decided to use 2 test subjects from NARS’ Spring 2012 collection, shadow pencil Dark Rite on the left and pure matte lipstick Valparaiso on the right. For more information regarding the two colors click here.

Here is the end result after 2 sweeps removing the makeup. I left the top part intact for comparison. As you can see the colors are almost gone, only with a tad bit shadow pencil residue on the left. I then took another makeup remover saturated cotton pad and wiped the area again, the color residue were all gone. So I’d say it’s pretty good at removing light and non waterproof makeup. For hard to remove makeup, you may need more cotton pads. Overall it’s quite gentle and didn’t irritate or dry out the skin.

NARS makeup removing water can be a nice alternative to other types of makeup remover. It’s much lighter than makeup removing oil and gel. Though I would still use a separate eye makeup remover to remove glitter shadows and waterproof mascara, the easy to use and gentle formula make the NARS makeup removing water perfect for removing foundation, tinted moisturizer, lipstick, light eye makeup and more.
