NYFW Fall 2012: The Hair from HYDEN YOO

The Inspiration:

Unashamed and proud of his intellect; this collection for men’s has been drawn from an attitude that exists in the intelligent & self aware man who curates himself within a sartorial manner.  Although proud and aware, for every man there is always the elusive female.  A woman that embodies all the coveted characteristics that mark her as the unattainable.  She’s the girl that all men fawn over, but never had the ability to muster up the courage to engage her.  With these two different sentiments, the collection explores tension between these two attitudes.

THE HAIR (Women’s)

To complement the feel of the collection, the inspiration of the hair was that of an uptown girl who is kind of nerdy, and wants to go downtown to try to be cool. She knows all of the elements that make the cool downtown look, but something just isn’t quite right.  ION Studio’s Marcos Diaz keyed the hair for the presentation.  For some girls he decided to keep the look up while for others (after the look set) he took it down and let it hang over the shoulder.

STEP 1: Spray the hair with Davines Defining Texturizer and blow it out using ONE Styling’s NEW Epic Dryer set to a negative charge; negative ions neutralize the charge, closing the hair follicles and smoothing the shaft to create a smooth look.

STEP 2: Create a deep side part and secure it with a rubber band behind the ear. Then secure the front bags with a bobby pin.

STEP 3: Using a 1” Curling Iron, create imperfect waves in the hair.

STEP 4: Take both sections and create a side bun just behind the ear and pin it.

STEP 5: Spray the hair with Davines Defining Invisible Hairspray.

STEP 6: Finish with a thin coat of Davines OI/OIL for added shine.
