OPI BAC Pink Shatter Swatch and Review – Paint Your Nails with Pink of Hearts Nail Lacquer 2011 For the Cure

According to OPI, a limited edition Pink Shatter: Pink of Hearts Nail Lacquer was launched to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in its promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever. Today let me reveal this gorgeous new shatter shade from OPI for you.

Pink Shatter NL E58.

The color in the bottle is a very bright hot pink. It has a tiny bit of subtle shimmers but they’re a lot shier than Blue Shatter and Turquoise Shatter.

This is what the bottle looks like in the sun.

Before moving on to the swatches, let me tell you how the shatter polish works. It is a unique type of polish that dries into a cracked two-texture effect. The applicator is simple, apply one coat of shatter polish over two coats of a regular nail polish. Wait a few seconds it will shatter. Add a top coat if you prefer a glossy finish. For the Pink Shatter, I picked In the Spot-Light Pink from the Femme de Cirque SoftShades Collection. See swatch and review here.

Before applying Pink Shatter, this is a close up of In the Spot-Light Pink with two coat application. It’s such a girly pink isn’t it? I love how glossy it looks without a top coat.

After waiting for it to completely dry, I applied a thin coat of Pink Shatter as instructed. Just a few seconds later it started to shatter with each finger shows a totally different pattern. This is the finish without a top coat. As you can see the actually shatter color isn’t as glossy as the base color In the Spot-Light Pink. But that is exactly how two-texture effect works.

Pink Shatter in the spot light of sunshine. The subtle shimmers are not highly visible but they definitely add a lot of dimensions to the nails.

Finally I top it off with a glossy top coat. The finished nails look even smoother and they really shine in the sunlight.

I’m grateful to OPI for releasing such a pretty Pink Shatter polish in the month of Breast Cancer Awareness. As always the polish itself has top notch quality with easy to apply pro-wide lacquer brush. The consistency on Pink Shatter is a bit thinner than some previous shatter polishes and the coverage is also on the sheer side, but it shows up gorgeously on In the Spot-Light Pink. I need to experiment with darker shade later and see how it reacts, I would assume the look will be different and even more interesting. Do let me know if you have already tried some combinations.

The shatter isn’t that appealing. They have better ones.

I bought this shatter already and I think the formula wasn’t as good as some of the other ones.
