OPI Femme de Cirque SoftShades Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches and Review

Good morning sunshine! (and moonlight if you’re on the other side of the world) Friday is the best day of the week since the day after Friday will be Saturday. Who doesn’t like Saturday? In my dictionary, it means relaxing and spending time with family. What’s even better… it’s a break from work. Tired from one week of stress, our nails also need a break. It’s the perfect time for SoftShades.

Inspired by circus, Femme de Cirque will make every woman feel like a shining star with these soft pink shades.

They’re classy and chic, yet trendy and modern.

NL F25 I Juggle… Men is sheer and subtle iridescent glitter polish that can be worn alone or painted over any of the other lacquers for an entirely new look. The pink, purple and blue micro glitters are so fine and delicate, yet how amazingly it brings shine to the fingertips.

NL F26 So Many Clowns… So Little Time is the palest pink shade among the rest of three polishes. It has that milky nude hue behind its pink nature.

NL F27 In the Spot-Light Pink is definitely the spot light of this collection. It’s innocent pop of color will make any pink polish jealous.

NL F28 Step Right Up! is toned down version of In the Spot-Light Pink. It has less color but creamier.

If you don’t already own an OPI nail polish, let me show you its ProWide brush. It’s slightly wider than most polish brushes and it picks up just right amount of product for each application. Basically you just paint your nails three time, middle first then two sides. It’ll cover the whole nail effortlessly.

Swatched on a nail wheel, from left to right are:

So Many Clowns… So Little Time, In the Spot-Light Pink, Step Right Up! and I Juggle… Men

(Top half of the first 3 polishes are also painted with I Juggle… Men)

Swatched on the finger nails with 2-coat application, photo taken in natural lighting.

My thoughts about OPI Femme de Cirque SoftShades Collection:

As title suggests, this is a super feminine, sophisticated collection. It’s extremely work appropriate, but not going to be a bold shade lover’s best friend. The coverage is on the sheer side. 2 coats are sufficient, though 3 coats will be more opaque and look more elegant. The texture is super creamy and easy to work with. I also love its flawless finish. Even without top coat, they look extremely glossy and shiny. There’re absolutely no brush strokes. Drying time is not lightning speed but definitely worth the wait.

There could be similar shades out there, but it’s OPI’s topnotch formula that makes the collection stand out. If you’re looking for high quality neutrals, I highly recommend you check this collection out. Or at least get the I Juggle… Men, my favorite, because it’s so versatile. Though it’s beautiful on its own, I’d prefer to use it as a top coat. It will make any ordinary nail polish so much interesting.
