OPI Serena Glam Slam! US Nail Swatch and Review

For all the OPI and Serena fans, the final Glam Slam! installment has freshly hit your beauty counters. At the launch event, Serena looked amazing with her eye-catching red hot manicure. So today we will get to the details of the two colors she wore.

Glam Slam! U.S. features two high-shine shades: a shimmering red named Love is a Racket and a glittering bronze titled Pros & Bronze.

Starting off with Love is A Racket. It’s a passionate polish with high level of red. You can safely say that the red is like a large amount of emotion at how much love Serena has towards tennis.

NL S73 Love Is A Racket. The polish is filled with shimmers and glass flecks.

The formula’s coverage is great with two coats giving off a classy cherry red with high shine from the shimmers in the bottle. It has a soft fluorescent neon effect depending on where the light hits. To really capture the entire look and feel you need to experience it to see the brilliance in this.

This shot was taken with indoor lighting. I didn’t apply any top coat intentionally to show you the finish of it. Because of the tiny glass flecks, you can still feel the surface being uneven when it dries.

Another indoor shot at different angle. Pay attention to the ring finger, as you can see the little shimmer particles, though it feels still quite smooth and far from gritty.

With direct sunlight the polish looks even more sparkly and shows a bit of neon coral. The color is really gorgeous in person that the photos don’t do it justice.

The second polish in the set is Pros & Bronze. This is a golden shimmer with hints of rose all encapsulated in the bottle. Hence the name, Pros (rose) and Bronze.

NL S74 Pros & Bronze. Besides having the same glass flecks inside, Pros and Bronze also looks more metallic than Love Is A Racket, which is more unique to my liking.

Here is a photo with indoor lighting. The nails are painted with 2 coats. Personally I think 2 coats are sufficient but if you want to achieve a more opaque look, a thin third coat may have a better result. The color looks like a glittery copper with gold specks and sparkles, there is also a hint of rose giving character and flavor to the polish.

Another indoor shot at a different angle. The finish seems more foil look.

With direct sunlight, the nail polish shows off a high shine with evenly stacked golden specks providing a glowing effect.

Both polishes have fantastic formula with great coverage and easy to work with consistency. The colors are interesting and unique with different approaches of perception. I also love how fast they dry. Do grab yourself a set before they are sold out!

Thanks OPI and Serena for offering us a great series of Glam Slam! collection. I can’t believe it’s the last set from the collection already. I do hope Serena gets the GOLD Medal with her burning RED passion for tennis.

    Love them both!

Both of them are awesome because of them going well together. It especially reminds me a bit of Xmas which is coming up at the end of this year.

This set is so pretty. I really love the glass flecks in there.

This set gives a really nice color combination. Even though it says Pros and Bronze, I still think its more gold.

I love the second nail polish Pros and Bronze. It’s such a nice color. Does the nail polish feel even when applied or chunky?

    • admin September 5, 2011 at 10:58 PM

The Pros and Bronze is very smooth. There is probably a little bit of unevenness but not noticeable at all.

Great swatches! Both polishes are very pretty but I prefer Pros & Bronze over Love Is A Racket.

    • admin September 5, 2011 at 10:59 PM

Both are great polishes, but the Pros & Bronze is a lot brighter in color with a bit of bling bling effect because of the gold.

I love both colors. How is the wear time for them?

    • admin September 5, 2011 at 11:01 PM

The wear time on these are approximately 1 week. Make sure to put on top coat!

I don’t have anything close to Pros & Bronze. I wish they could sell it separately.

Great photos and review! These colors look great on you. Do you have any dupes to the red one?

    • admin September 6, 2011 at 12:17 AM

I can think of colors that are similar but the finish isn’t exactly the same. So dupe wise I cannot tell you off the top of my head. Sorry!

This is a really nice combo. You should do a Pros & Bronze over the Love Is A Racket. I think it’ll look great.

Hehe… I hope I can do it like Serena because her’s on the promotion picture looks outstandingly clean and its like work of art!

Do you know where I can find this set besides nail salons? I checked Sephora, but they didn’t have it.

    • admin September 6, 2011 at 12:20 AM

I think it’s available at Ulta or smaller scaled beauty salons. You can check the shops in the mall such as Peninsula Beauty.

I really love Bronze & Pros. It is really glowing under the sun.

    • admin September 6, 2011 at 12:21 AM

Yep! The glow really does account to something.

  11. Nicky September 5, 2011 at 1:47 AM

Great swatches! Does the Pros & Bronze look like foil in the sun or it depending on the angle?

    • admin September 6, 2011 at 12:24 AM

Depending on the angle or how you see it. It’s really personal preference.

  12. Bella September 6, 2011 at 3:21 PM

Love Is A Racket is so pretty! I love how it shows up on your nails.
