OPI Serena Williams’ Glam Slam! England Swatch and Review

A while back all the media’s focus shifted over to England because of the big royal wedding. Serena Williams also had a part over there as well… but at the Wimbledon.

I wasn’t sure if OPI had the royal wedding in mind when designing these polishes, but Kate would rock if she wore this on her wedding. Today I’ll unveiling you the newest Glam Slam Collection, England.

There’re 2 sets of duo-packs in the collection, with both sets have one same glitter polish and one color popping metallic polish.

So let’s take a look at the glitter polish first, NL S98 Servin’ Up Sparkle. It’s a clear jelly base suspended with holographic glitters and flakes. “The next big trend in nails is making lacquer look 3-dimensional by adding different micas and glitters, turning fingertips into jewelry.” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.

Similar to Spark de Triomphe from the Glam Slam France Collection, Servin’ Up Sparkle’s also filled with glitters and hexagon flakes. But the result is not quite comparable. The silver hexagon flakes in the Servin’ Up Sparkle are bigger and they all reflect light in different ways, giving the nail a rainbow array of color. Keep in mind, you’ll feel the surface being gritty due to the glitters, but a good top coat will help smooth it up and make the polish stay longer. The polish itself is gorgeous on it own for a subtle bling bling effect with just one coat. Or it can be used as a top coat to add texture and dimension.

NL S97 Grape… Set… Match is a metallic royal purple with purple and blue shimmers. The consistency is light and easy to work with.

I wouldn’t imagine how a metallic purple polish pair up with chunky glitters but OPI sure pulled it off seamlessly. See the 2 coat application on the left and a Servin’ Up Sparkle layered on top on the right. It went from royal to glamourous.

The last polish in the collection is NL S99 Your Royal Shine-Ness. It’s a silver metallic with chrome finish. The polish itself is just a simple nice silver metallic. It’s rich and brush mark free, but there’s nothing really special to it.

Though it completely wowed me when I layered with Servin’ Up Sparkle. Those holographic hexagon flakes served me right. They’re like hidden jewels that you need to discover. If you don’t pay attention, you might miss them, but if you do find them, they shine like diamond.

This below photo shows the swatches of the collection. First 2 are Grape… Set… Match and Your Royal Shine-Ness, 2 coat application layered with Servin’ Up Sparkle and top coat. The last one is Servin’ Up Sparkle one coat without top coat.

One last photo of how they sparkle in the sun. The glitters are really bright and eye catching.

Given the OPI polishes are top quality in terms of formulation, consistency, coverage, drying speed, etc, the colors in this collection don’t really stand out when looked separately. Purple metallic, silver chrome metallic and chunky glitter are all easy to spot from many brands. Though they team up so perfectly in the collection makes OPI one of the best nail polish brand out in the market. Servin’ Up Sparkle, a seem-to-be ordinary glitter makes so much difference.

Glam Slam! England will be available beginning June 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $14.95 ($20.95 CAN) suggested retail for each duo-pack.

Servin’ Up sparkle prettifies everything! luckily a lot of Japanese glitter polishes are like that but you can’t beat OPI’s quality!! the purple and silver are lovely too!

Lucky you, nic nic. Japan is like a heaven for bling bling stuff especially when it comes to beauty products. But you’re right about OPI, they’re fantastic.
