OPI Serena Williams Glam Slam France Edition Swatch and Review

Remember I said this Spring is like a lipstick lover’s heaven, now I feel like the Summer season is all about nail polish. With the latest and upcoming collections from OPI, Dior, Chanel and CND, I’m truly thrilled. Let me show you one collection at a time with today’s superstars featuring Serena Williams and OPI.

I’ve always been a fan of Serena Williams because of her passion for tennis, but she’s also famous for her stand-out fashion sense and her love for nail style. She even took nail technician training last year. It’s only natural that OPI collaborates with her to release the ultimate Glam Slam Collections. In the world of tennis, each year there’re 4 major tournaments called the Grand Slams, Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. At the start of each tournament, a Glam Slam collection is introduced. Launching in conjunction with the French Open, Glam Slam France celebrates with 2 duo-packs for four unbeatable looks.

The first duo set is the Rally Pretty Pink and Red Shatter.

It was quite tricky to open the box the first time so you gotta be really careful not to tear it apart. There’s also an instruction shows how shatter works.

Rally Pretty Pink NL S19 (Left), Red Shatter NL E55 (Right)

Rally Pretty Pink is a burgundy pink with gold shimmer. It’s a tad sheer with one coat but the coverage is quite even.

2 costs get the nail fully covered with glossy duo-chrome like finish. The surface is really smooth you can barely feel it.

The gold shimmers are even prettier in the sun. Personally I think Rally Pretty Pink looks just great by itself.

But Red Shatter definitely adds an interesting finish and transforms it to a totally different new look. The result is a little bit more feminine and brighter than the Rally Pretty Pink alone. Like the first OPI shatter polish, Black Shatter, Red Shatter is also very easy to work with. Just be careful to wait for the base color to be completely dry before you do the shatter coat.

To make the polish stay longer and have a glossy looking, I applied a top coat. This is how it looks in sunlight.

The second duo set is the Spark de Triomphe and White Shatter.

On the back of the box also shows the same instruction.

Spark de Triomphe NL S18 (Left), White Shatter NL E54 (Right)

Spark de Triomphe is a sheer pale gold polish with silver and gold shimmers and chunkier hex glitters. It’s very sparkly in the sunlight.

When applied thin and light, this can be a great top coat that adds a glamourous finish to any polish. Though it looks quite thick and heavy in the bottle, the texture is very easy to work with and it goes on very smoothly.

With 2 coats it gets completely opaque. What I really like about Spark de Triomphe is that it shows different colors under different lightings. Sometimes it looks silver, sometimes it looks gold and sometimes it looks white gold with a hint of green.

Another 2 coat swatch in direct sunlight. As you can probably see, the finish is not as smooth as Rally Pretty Pink due to the chunky glitters.

Unlike the Red Shatter being somewhat glossy, White Shatter is completely matte. It did shatter pretty well for me on the first try.

To finish the look, I added a top coat to smooth out the surface a bit.

Finally let’s see the collection again in natural lighting…

and in direct sunlight.

I absolutely have nothing to complain about these 2 great duo sets. The formula and consistency are fantastic. All 4 polishes are easy to work with. The coverage is pretty standard with 2 coats being opaque. And the drying speed is lightening. I barely had any downtime when doing the swatches and taking pictures. I just can’t wait to see what Serena and OPI bring out next for the Wimbledon Collection.

p.s. When I look at the 2 sets again, I wish there was a blue themed duo in the collection. So it’ll complete the national flag color of France. Silly idea, ha!

I love all the colors, but I still feel that the shatters should have been switched with one another in the sets!! The more I think about it, it might be a marketing thing, because if I had to pick 2 it would be Rally Pretty Pink and White Shatter, but I don’t have that option =p lol now if I want them I’ll have to get all 4~ not that I mind, since they’re all so pretty!!!

&& OHHHH I agree with you, it would have been nice to see some blue =D blue gold~ ou lala
