RMK Spring Shimmer 2011 S/S Collection Nail Color EX Swatch and Review Part 1

So I recently pulled out a set of nail polishes from my trusty vault and man did I forget all about them, the RMK Spring Shimmers from 2011 Spring/Summer Collection. Luckily they are still in brand new condition! This post is for my amazing friend BlondyCandy, who is very intrigued and interested in RMK. You can find her Amazingness here.

I will be breaking up the review into two parts. Today we will start with Part 1. The set includes 5 limited edition nail colors which I will be featuring first 3 today!

First we have EX-01 White Orange, a bright orange color.

Except being shimmery, White Orange looks quite similar to Givenchy nail lacquer 175 Acid Orange, see swatches here.

Here is the first swatch with 2 coats under indoor lighting. See how glossy it looks even without a top coat. The formula is light and easy to apply. First coat goes on a bit sheer so a second coat is necessary.

Under sunlight the color is very even almost like a true orange color. But you wonder, why is it called “white” orange?

Here they are, the fine silvery shimmers finally show up under a different angle.

Next on the table is a bottle of hot pink or you can even call it magenta pink. It’s very hip pink!

The color is EX-02 White Pink.

This color gives off a very creamy look with indoor lighting. It has the same consistency as White Orange but pigmentation is better. The nails are swatched with 2 coat but you can probably pull it off with just one. It also dries to a glossy finish.

With direct sunlight the nails look even and smooth. It has the same fine silver shimmers.

Here is a shot at a different angle of sunlight. I can’t remember anything similar to White Pink so far. Maybe I need to do a vault cleanup again.

Our last color for part 1 is a baby purple color which is really light and blissful.

You probably guessed the naming by now, it’s Ex-03 White Purple!

With a glossy and smooth feel the color itself is like perfect. Coverage is also great.

Under direct sunlight, the white (silver) shimmers are quite visible.

Here is a different angled shot as oppose to the previous shot.

Well what do we have here?! It’s NARS, RMK, and 2 bottles of CHANEL! They are all in the family of purple! We have Nars Pokerface (holiday 2010), RMK White Purple, Chanel Lilac Sky, and Chanel Rodeo Drive (Robertson Collection) on the block.

With indoor lighting RMK stands to be lighter and in cooler tone compared to the others. Chanel’s Rodeo Drive and Nars Pokerface look the most similar and Lilac Sky show a bit pink tone.

Here’s a different angled shot of indoor lighting.

What do you think of the first 3 colors from the set? Great for Spring and Summer? Indeed the colors are bright and vivid. I love how the shimmers are so subtle that it almost looks like moonlight. The overall application and formula are smooth and even. Two coats are preferred over one for maximum coverage.

Part 2 of the set is coming up next!

I sold most of my RMK at a blog sale, but I’m preparing to haul from the Fall 2011 collection!
