Shu Uemura Art of Hair Volume Maker Invisible Texturizing Powder Review

Being a genius at its own inventions, Shu Uemura Art of Hair has done it again by developing a hair styling powder that looks like a makeup brush. SAY WHAT?! Yes, a hair product that looks like a makeup brush. It’s even super compact to fit in a purse, but powerful enough to dispense invisible powder to make you look like your hair is worth a million dollar. As crazy as it may sound like, let’s take a look at what this magic brush can do. By the way, the name is Volume Maker Invisible Texturizing Powder.

What does Volume Maker do exactly? Well as the name suggests, it adds volume to hair. But it’s more than just a simple hair volumizer, this brush is able to dispense invisible powder not only bringing volume to the hair, but also instantly lifting the root of hair and texturizing it. The powder itself is micro-particled sized and invisible which spreads across the roots to supports the hair styling. You can amplify shape with this brush or even create up-dos. I sure haven’t seen a hair brush like this ever before.

Packaging design wise, a push button at the end is in charge of dispensing the powder. The design not only is unique in its own way, it reminds me of built-in brush foundation, just like YSL’s Touche Eclat. Except this is even more interesting, since it is being used on hair. The majority of the design is black with a smoked dark grey cap at the other end. Letters and the sea wave pattern are in bright shiny red. In the interior, there is a protecting sleeve that you would need to pull down to expose the brush. Afterwards, it is ready to use.

With this innovative design, precision is the key to the tool. It allows gentle strokes and just a few clicks of powder for volume and texture.

I want to actually dispense some of the powder to show you how microscopic it looks. This is an up close shot. When I had used this powder on my hair (make sure your hair is dry before use), it couldn’t be seen. But as I was blow drying and combing I could feel the hair turning into something different. The words are probably airy with volume. Just make sure when you use it, apply at the root of the hair, that is where all the magic happens.

Last but not least, I would like to share this cool screen shot that I took off of the promo video on Shu’s youtube channel. Not only the video is neat, the music is awesome too!

Besides being such a unique product with an easy to use structure, Volume Maker, really does the trick. You wouldn’t even need to go to a salon to do an up-do or even create the gorgeous super model looking hair. Just do it at home with this brush and drop it in the purse when on the go.
