A field of dreams or a dreamy aura surrounding the area? What does the new Shu Uemura Unmask Palette have in store?
Let’s find out!
Last year’s Spring 2012 Collection from the brand featured a Celestial Garden that embarked an imagination of ever blue skies with surreal florals surrounding the area. What about this year?
Shu’s new eyeshadow creation for Spring/Summer 2013 has this unique on stage design with a number of things that come to mind when I first saw it. It reminded me of Phantom of the Opera but without the black colored background. Instead, I can picture the main actress dressed in all white and covered with a white cloak. Another thing that I thought of was a magician performing on stage. Whatever they were performing, it was all about the stage and their crazily amazing show. Pink curtains with a pink mask… Sparkly and artistic is what the palette can be seen as.
Like all Shu Uemura color atelier customizable palettes, the unmask eyeshadow case can be popped out to change pans. Simply slide the bar to the left to reveal the shadow tray.
Colors are of a bright playing field of greens and pastels that remind me of a prairie. Perhaps it is like a lasting trip down to the countryside where the air is fresh and gentle winds breeze by.
The shadows evoke a crisp and clean color theme that is fresh and very spring like. Flowers, grass, and trees or maybe the ground can be seen from looking at the colors. Something close to mother nature. Out of the five shadows only the minty green (2nd) has slight shimmer and the rest are all matte. Grassy green (3rd) and brown (4th) are the most pigmented. Though mainly being matte texture, the shadows are still easy to apply on just like any shadow from the brand. You can’t even feel a slight bit of chalkiness. They’re also quite long lasting, no fading or caking at the end of the day.
Shu Uemura’s new collection brings a dream aura from its design, with a bright spring look. The colors are somewhat eye popping but more sophisticated and much subtler than the bold yellows and oranges. Put on a blissful white dress and color your lids with this will turn you into an angel in the grassy fields. Don’t forget a straw hat too!
