Living the LA life is all about fame and glam. You may not be able to experience it in person, but smashbox has a collection to depict all of that, Shades of Fame.
Smashbox Shades of Fame Collection comes in two different kits. There is an eye palette and a lip gloss set. We will start off with the eye palette. On the outside of the box, the design is made with a series of photo shoots at smashbox studio behind the scenes.
All together in this eye palette there is:
2 luxe cream liners
Duo ended eyeshadow/liner brush
Photo Finish Lid Primer (mini size)
If you open up the box and take everything out, you will notice there is also a booklet which shows you how to achieve 3 different looks from the kit.
When you open the eyeshadow palette you will see that all 9 shadows are in the middle and the cream liners are on both sides. Colors are very vibrant and summery. There is also a eyeshadow brush underneath the shadows and a big sized mirror on top.
Starting with the left 3 colors, you can see the up close shot of the colors in the palette. I have also included a swatch with the Photo Finish Lid Primer applied.
Bliss – matte pale beige
Nude – matte soft mushroom taupe
Pacific – shimmery aqua turquoise
Here is the middle section of the palette.
Honey – soft peachy yellow with pink sheen
Sherbert – shimmery coral with sparse gold shimmer
Praline – metallic glowing bronze
Honey is the most interest shade in the palette. Depending on different angles and lighting, the color looks either yellow or pink.
Here is the last 3 shadows on the right.
Sandstone – shimmery nude beige
Safari – shimmery dark green with gold shimmer
Mocha – toasted brown with sparse gold shimmer
Last but not least, here are the liners including the photo finish lid primer.
Gold – shimmery bronzed gold
Bronze – dark chocolate brown with subtle gold shimmer
Photo Finish Lid Primer – peachy nude
Now let’s move on to the Shades of Fame Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss Set. If you notice, it comes with 5 lip glosses with a jaw dropping price of $29. Each lip gloss is equipped to moisturize and fill fine lines on the lips.
Here is the squeeze tip exposed after unscrewing the cap. It’s pretty much an easy to use squeeze gel like dispenser. It feels really flexible and soft.
Candy is a baby pink with soft shimmers.
Buff is more or so a nudy bronzed color with golden shimmers.
Hibiscus comes in a hot pink like color armed with silvery reflective shimmers.
Papaya is full of shimmer and a little sheer peach color on the lips.
Finally, Star is a bright highlighting pearly white color.
Here are the swatches for each of the color. All of them are highly wearable shades that will look great day and night. The shimmers are visible but not overwhelming, just the right amount to make lips look perfectly shiny. The size of the tubes are in travel size so it’s a great set to try new colors and the price is really reasonable.
Smashbox Shades of Fame Collection comes in vibrant colors that are pigmented, highlighting, and very sparkly. The eyeshadow kit has everything you need for a fun and pretty summer. Even though the shadows themselves already have fantastic pigmentation, the Photo Finish Lid Primer does help prolong the wear time and make them look more vibrant. Instead of usually the boring black and brown liners, gold and bronze are more summer-like. They go really well with the eye palette as well. Not to mention the super handy duo ended shadow/liner brush. It may not be the best quality brush, but it gets the job done. The lip gloss set is also a keeper. I love every single shade in the set. Each of them has a hint of color that can be worn alone or on top of another color. And the vanilla scent makes summer taste even sweeter!
