Sue Devitt Nordic Trek Illuminating Eye Shadow Quad Icelandic Fjord Swatch and Review

During Sue Devitt’s Autumn / Winter 2011, she took us to a journey to the northern parts of Europe. The colors being very arctic and Eskimo. When we think of arctic and cold colors mashed with civilization, we think about white, icy blue, and brownish fur coats. Those areas are very cold!

Anyways, Sue Devitt’s Nordic Trek Illuminating Eye Shadow Quad Icelandic Fjord represents the color of the arctic wilderness!

The outside of Sue Devitt’s case is a smooth silvery case with the brands name in the middle. Once opened, the the mirror is almost smudge proof. The mirror itself is scratch resistant as well! So no more cracked mirrors or any fear of cracking the mirror. The palette is available at SueDevittBeauty.com for $37.50.

From top to bottom, the colors are: Deep Moss Shimmer, Glacial Aqua, Arctic Blue, and Nordic Nude. The representation of the colors make the palette really different with a coldness to it. It does represent winter colors. It’s almost like picturing winter out in the wilderness!

The 2 shadows deep moss shimmer and arctic blue is the most pigmented whereas glacial aqua and nordic nude are lighter shades. Each shadow has subtle shimmers that bring the colors to life, almost like the sun shining on the icebergs, sea water, and land! The palette is also very easy to apply, as the shadows are super smooth and all finely milled.

With icy cold colors of the arctic, Sue Devitt’s color is very mystical and gives a alluring sense of Fall / Winter. The colors are very balances with 2 colors being more pigmented than the others. The application on these are so easy that one dash of the color is almost enough! The mirror in the case is also smudge resistant and crack proof. This makes Sue Devitt’s palette a wonderful set of a eyeshadows for the season.

I do want to bring one issue to attention. “Doesn’t the sponge application look a bit… crappy?” You ask. Well, the applicator in the palette may not be the best quality one but it gets the job done and good enough for touch ups on the go. Besides everyone should already invest in some makeup brushes at home, for example, eyebase brush and refined eyebase brush from Sue Devitt. So this isn’t an issue for me at all. I’d hate to see low quality shadows with “high” quality applicator. Don’t you agree?

This palette is really special because it’s got a lot of cool toned shadows. The quality seems nice too. Hope my Ulta carries this palette.

Feels very much like Shiseido Trio “Opera” in colors, but texture is definitely different. Not my colors, but looks good 🙂

I like the Moss Shimmer. It’s the perfect bronze green for the fall season.

This palette is so pretty even though I don’t normally wear shades like these. I really want to try the brand.
