SUQQU Christmas 2011 Makeup Kit B Swatch Review and Look with Blend Color Eyeshadow EX-06 Usuchaori

Nudes and neutrals are always in the season, especially during Christmas time soft earthy colors will sure add some warmth to the cold weather. Being one of the most prestigious beauty brands in Japan, SUQQU has come up with a perfect gift set including a neutral eye palette for this holiday season. It is Suqqu’s Christmas 2011 Makeup Kit B.

There are 3 eye essentials and a makeup pouch in the kit. Everything is housed in a simple black cardboard box.

SUQQU Eye Makeup Remover R in 50ml

SUQQU Eye Cream R in 0.14 oz

I haven’t tried neither eye makeup remover nor eye cream yet so for now I will only show you the pictures of them. But I do plan to give full reviews on the two items later on.

To complete the set, we have a light cream colored makeup pouch with a big ribbon on the front. It is made with high quality material and very lightweight, but big enough to put in your holiday necessities when you go to a party or a festival.

The inside is lined with shimmering brown with a separate compartment on one side.

Now it’s time for the main star of the kit, the eyeshadow palette. It’s in a very thin and sleek compact with the brand name “SUQQU” written on the bottom.

The upper half of the palette is filled with fine shimmers. It’s like the starry sky on the Christmas Eve. The whole compact is super smooth to the touch. You don’t actually feel the shimmers because they’re all embedded underneath the surface.

Blend Color Eyeshadow EX-06 Usuchaori 淡茶織

The palette comes with 2 duo ended applicators. The bristles on the large brush side are extremely soft while on the blending side the bristles are more dense, but both sides feel very gentle on the eye lid and they don’t prick. The sponge applicators are also nice and firm.

To protector the shadows, there is a embossed plastic divider that covers them.

The palette includes 4 neutral and earthy tones. 3 of them contain soft shimmers which are the best at portraying our natural facial features especially on the eye area. The 4 colors from top left going clockwise are:

soft cool toned taupe with gold shimmers
metallic coppery bronze
matte beige cream
neutral brown with multi-color shimmers

In direct sunlight the shimmers are now more visible. The shadows also look a bit cooler than they seem in the shade due to the reflection of the shimmers. One other thing I noticed was the eyeshadows being very 3 dimensional and the colors change slightly in different angles.

Our first eyeshadow is the soft taupe on the top left. It has a hint of grey when looked straight down but the trace of gold shimmers make it glowy with angled view. Pigmentation is soft but it feels very smooth and melts into the skin like butter.

Top right is coppery bronze. The gold shimmers make it the brightest and warmest shade in the palette. Pigmentation is superb on this, even though it looks metallic there was no slightest shadow fallouts.

The darkest shade in the palette is the bottom left brown, which looks almost like the outer rings of a tree trunk. This color adds a lot of flavor to the rest of the shadows because of the multi-colored shimmers.

Our last eyeshadow is bottom right beige cream that almost looks like the same color as the pouch. It’s a complete matte cream with ultra finely milled powder.

When swatched on my arm, I instantly feel the shadows being incredibly soft and silky. All 4 shades are nicely pigmented while the coppery bronze and brown (middle 2) have slightly more coverage than the other two. They also glide on super smoothly because how fine the powders were milled. This first swatch photo was taken in natural indoor lighting.

With direct sunlight, you can immediately see the shimmers being a lot more vibrant and the colors are amplified. The great thing is it’s not dramatic at all because all 4 colors are coordinating and enhancing each other, giving a natural subtle look.

Here is a break down of all 4 shadows in side view so you can see the shimmers much better.

Finally I have a look for you using all 4 shadows in the palette. I used the beige cream all over the lid as a base and under the brown bone as a highlighter. Then I laid down soft taupe starting at the lash line to just above the crease and around the lower lash line. I also blended in a bit of coppery bronze at the first half of the crease to brighten up. I didn’t use an eyeliner for this soft look, instead I lined both lash lines with multi-color shimmered brown and also use that for contouring. The finished look is natural and sophisticated. The fine shimmers also make the eye sparkle.

SUQQU has a well thought out Christmas makeup kit by offering 3 eye products and a convenient makeup pouch. It has everything you need for a glowy warm holiday. The eye makeup remover and eye cream are in nice size, so you can pamper yourself before investing full sized products. The neutral eye palette brings us back to earth to who we are by expressing and enhancing our natural beauty for a more sophisticated look without being dramatic. Also the kit wouldn’t be complete without the elegant makeup pouch. It’s perfect for any occasion during the holidays. Overall it’s a must-have holiday kit for neutral lovers and all SUQQU fans. Get it before before it’s gone.

For your information, there is also a makeup kit A in the collection. It has a variety of cool and shimmering shades of pink and grey that you may be interested as well. Both are sold for ¥8400 in Japan and £55 in the UK Selfridges & Co.

I was thinking of getting either Makeup Kit A or B, but the eyeshadow colours in this palette are very similar to may colours in my stash. Of course, I believe the quality is excellent.

Will you be reviewing Makeup Kit A? I would like to see swatches of the eyeshadows.

All 3 brands are department store brands so the quality is there, but SUQQU is at higher range than the other two.
