Tom Ford Beauty Lip Color 17 Violet Fatale Swatch and Review

In my preview post I said there was one shade that instantly caught my eye, I was talking about you! –  Tom Ford Beauty Lip Color 17 Violet Fatale. With a deep rich violet (plum) color, it is as if the lipstick was soaked in a river of the ever luxurious Robert Mondavi’s Opus One Red Wine.

The case is designed with superior craftsmanship with bold edges giving a trust to its name brand.

Tom Ford Rouge A Levres 17 Violet Fatale, selling for $48 @ 3g. They should be available at your local Nordstroms, Saks and Neimans by now.

Aside from the powerfully engraved TF initials, the lipstick is mixed with an abundant amount of shimmers adding character and flavor. With a flawless make of the lipstick, Tom Ford’s lipstick is not only perfected in shape and style but it is also very emollient. The sweet pleasant vanilla scent makes it smell like a cake to the mouth.

Even with a side shot the shimmers are seen scattered all throughout the lipstick portraying a very consistent manner.

With an up close shot at the lipstick, the shimmers are now seen at a micro level. It’s like one application over the lips gives you a fantasy of fireworks racing inside the heart while the pounding never stops.

A swatch on the arm gives off a highly pigmented and glossy violet color, leaving the area super shiny like it was filled with diamond dust. The creaminess is also at play here, as it glides on effortless. With a bit of body heat, the lipstick immediately melts into the skin, leaving the color ultra smooth and even.

I then wanted to see and feel how the colors would play on my lips. The color looks almost the same as it shows on my arm, a bright violet with a hint of fuchsia. The lips also seem very hydrated and nourished because of the creaminess in the formula. The photo was taken with natural indoor lighting.

The color under sunlight gave a even more vibrant look with luminosity. The micro shimmers are indeed at work here.

Before ending the three lipsticks, I decided to give you a side by side comparison of the colors. Take a look at it and see what you think?

I really enjoyed this lipstick because I love how vibrant it was in nature. Even though the dark violet color looks a bit intimidating in the tube, it actually looks brighter on the lips and the color is super wearable. The lipstick really comes across as a well pigmented and blended violet color. The glossiness also plays a big role in bringing the lipstick to the next level. I can’t get enough of this lipstick. On a side note, I find that the lipstick leaves a color residue when I remove it. The darker the color, the more stain it leaves. To me this is more to my liking because if my lips were always so vibrant and luminous, it’ll be like natural beauty! So hopefully by applying the lipstick, my lip color will be gradually “trained” into one of these shades.

What do you think?

It looks great on you, but too cool toned for me. Wild Ginger looks similar to True Coral from the old collection – I like Adobe Pink from the new collection.

I am surprised to see this color looks so bright when applied. I could never wear something so bright.

My initial impression was a darker effect vs the brightness on it. But it really stood out to me.

      48 a piece x 2 is 96 roughly 100. It’s not that bad. It’s a good investment for such good quality product.

The dark violet lipstick with shimmers but ultra bright when applied? It really is nice.

Actually, I like the color on the tube more than the brightness of it on the lips. The color on your lips……I prefer more for Spring and summer. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice color either way. 🙂

I will showcase some of those plummy/ violet shades of lippy that I like in my blog soon…. Hopefully I can find the time. 😉 term is starting soon……

Violet Fatale is the most beautiful plum shade so far. It looks a lot brighter on your lips than in the tube.

Hehe… I never had the white ones before, because I was skeptical about them. But after giving these ones a try, I found that they aren’t bad.

The packaging does look super luxurious. How does it compare to the other high end lipsticks? For example, Chanel, Guerlain…

Tom Ford is more creamy and easy to apply on. I still like Guerlain’s design for exterior casing.

This color screamed to me too!!! I was most excited to see this swatch. The lipstick color in the the tube looks very wild and bright, but when swatched/ applied it’s so wearable =]

Exactly, the color after swatched is very different than it sitting in the tube!
