Tom Ford Eye Color Quad 07 Cobalt Rush Swatch and Review

Recently blue has been taking stage everywhere, from tuxedo blue to lagoon blue. It’s one of the most elegant color for the eyes. And there is one brilliant blue palette from Tom Ford can not be missed, Cobalt Rush, a classic blue with a twist of teal for modern and chic look.

Cobalt Rush can be purchased for $75.00 from Neimanmarcus.com.

The palette comes with a soft brown plush case for protecting the eyeshadow compact against any scratches or mishaps.

Tom Ford always has the best looking luxury designs. Even the compact itself has a luxurious feel. The burgundy brown background with the gold wording makes the exterior design very lux. The shadows also come in a good size of 0.35 oz/10g.

After opening the eyeshadow the interior holds the 4 shadows along with 2 double sided brushes and a full sized mirror.

There are 3 shades of blue with a silvery white color on the top left. All 4 shadows contain fine shimmers though top two shadows have slightly larger shimmer particles than the bottom two. The silvery white is a great highlighting color whereas the other 3 blues ranging from grayish slate blue (top right), to navy ink blue (bottom left), and finally teal peacock blue (bottom right.) They are well coordinated for an easy seamless blending.

Here is the palette in the sunlight. As you can see the shadows give back a reflection from the shimmers.

With flash, the shimmers can be seen much better.

Besides the 3 blue hues being super gorgeous and flattering, I find the white shade even more attractive. This is definitely not your everyday shimmery white. It has that unbelievable pigmentation that no other can compete, but at the same time super soft and smooth. The shimmers are fine and adhere to the skin like magnet. The finish is semi-frost, almost with a wet feel to it.

Here are two pictures to show you a closer look. The first one is natural indoor lighting and the 2nd picture is with direct sunlight.

The 2 double sided applicators are good for on the go touchup though I do not recommend using them when you’re at home. The metal part on the rounded sponge end is a bit rough. You need to be really careful with them, because you might scratch the shadow if you use too much force.

Here is a swatch of the quad starting from top left in clockwise direction. Besides the shimmery white being super pigmented, the rest 3 blues also have superb color payoff. The colors blend effortless with zero fallout. That’s what I think Tom Ford eyeshadow so special compared to the others. It’s not hard to find pigmented shadows but I haven’t seen many that stay on so well.

At a different angle, you can see the shimmers better.

Here is a finished look I did with the shadows. I used shimmery white for highlighting under the brow bone and inner eye area, slate blue on top lid just below the crease, navy blue on lower lash line, and teal blue for contouring. I also used a blue mascara for the lashes. The brow was drawn by Tom Ford Brow Sculptor 03 Chestnut. See the review here.

Tom Ford’s eye color quad is a dream of blue. Not only is the exterior design luxurious and distinctly Tom Ford, the shadows are also made of quality! Everything from outside to inside or even starting with the outside box makes Tom Ford’s quad spectacular. The colors are hand picked for maximum wearability and blendability. They are classy but not flashy, unique but not dramatic. No matter how you wear these colors, your eyes will look stunning and timeless. It’s one of the best blue combinations for the eyes.

I don’t know if the price tag is justifiable. It’s nice to see the swatches and the look. I just think Tom Ford is a bit overpriced.

These colours are exquisite! They look so much better on the eye than in the pan! I’ve got the Russet palette, which looks scary in the pan, but very nice on!

I haven’t seen the whole collection yet but I have a feeling they are not for me. They are good quality but not good enough for the high price tag.

This palette does look very classy and easy to wear. Do you have any dupes for it?

I cant find any dupes. To me a dupe has to be the same in terms of formula, colors, wearability, lasting power, and much more. Color alone can’t really justify it being a dupe.

Gorgeous blue colors! I barely have any blues in my collection… How does the TF shadow compare to Urban Decay’s pigmentation?

They are highly pigmented, but Urban Decay lacks the fine quality and formula.

I hope I’ll be able to check out this palette in person. We don’t have a Neiman in our area though. I may just have to order it unseen. Your swatches are lovely so I hope it all works out.

If you don’t have a Neiman’s the best bet is to order it online.

I have the Silver Topaz and I wasn’t completely wowed by it. I wish I got the Cobalt Rush or Sahara Haze instead.

Super gorgeous look! Even though I don’t think Tom Ford’s packaging is worth the price tag, the quality inside is pretty good.
