Vernis Please! Givenchy Nail Lacquer 175 Acid Orange Swatch and Review

Even if there are a gazillion amount of similar colors, sometimes we just gotta have them all. Orange has been hot since spring. I saw many brands came out with orange colored lipsticks and blushes already. Givenchy, one of my favorite brands, also came out with a stunning summer collection featuring an orange nail color. It’s Acid Orange, one exceptionally bold and vibrant shade that stands out like one in a million. With its signature title and tall rectangular bottle design it is a great addition for summer!

The color is not flashy nor boring. The tangerine orange matches my red, white and blue table cloth really well. Tropical and bright colors are what the season is all about.

Givenchy’s emblem can be spotted from a mile away, showing ownership of the nail polish.

Vernis Please! 175 Acid Orange Made in France with some funny code OY01. Don’t know what that means. But I do know that 5.5ml means this polish is tiny.

As far as I know, Givenchy polish always has that super rich color. Acid Orange was no exception. But one thing I wasn’t prepared to see was the thicker texture. Also the polish sets in a flash, it can be gooey if you don’t move fast enough. So timing becomes the key to perfection. This is the one coat application. The color is really bold and almost true to the bottle already. The finish is quite glossy without top coat.

With 2 coats applied, the color gets as intense as it could be. This is what I call a “hot orange”. The nails are also finished off with one top coat.

Let me show you some more swatches that are taken in direct sunlight.

Acid Orange is such a “it” summer shade that can be flattering to many skin tones. It’s like a neutral orange with glossy finish. Even though the consistency is a little thick but it’s nothing close to unmanageable. You just need to be quick and precise. Be sure to finish one nail in less than 3 strokes and you’re good. My only reservation is the price and availability. This polish (in the US) can only be purchased on For $16.5 price tag you pay, you only get 5.5ml, that’s like $3/ml. It’s a lot more expensive than Dior’s $2.1/ml and Chanel’s $1.9/ml.
