World’s Finest Gourmet Indulgence – Vosges Mo’s Bacon Chocolate Chip Pancake Mix

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. The usual gifts and roses are probably the easiest to do year after year. For this year, I recommend having a quality breakfast with mom. By quality, I mean making good old fashion American styled breakfast which includes eggs, sausage, milk, and pancakes. Oh I forgot about the bacon and chocolate. Good thing both the bacon and chocolate can be mixed in with the pancake. Anyways, the quality time is probably the best, talking at the table and catching up on good times brings back all the pleasant and sweet memories.

All the ideas come to life for me when I saw Vosges Mo’s Bacon Chocolate Chip Pancake mix. It is not only made with an interesting combination that is surprisingly tasty, it will also wow your mom.

Just like all Vosges mixes, the pancake mix comes in a simple white cardboard box with all the information you need to know about the mix. You get a glimpse of a drool factor on the front of the box which is a stainless steel fork with 3 pieces of golden colored pancakes that has 2 bacon slabs and 3 chocolate chips on it. Topping it off is maple syrup dripping off the pieces of juicy pancakes.

Inside the box is an instruction card along with a bag of Mo’s chocolate chips infused with pieces of hickory smoked uncured bacon and the actual pancake mix. The chocolate chips infused with pieces of bacon do have bacon texture in them if you were to munch on a piece or two. It gives a good balance between chocolate sweet and salty bacon. The salt is from Alderwood Smoked Salt. The two sinfully mouthwatering ingredients clash to make the perfect combination for the palate.

Here is the side of the box that tells you what you need to make the pancakes. I got all my supplies from the local Whole Foods Market. They pretty much have everything needed.

Vosges Mo’s Bacon Chocolate Chip Pancake Mix yielded approximately 18 pancakes for me. They are airy, fluffy, and tasty at the same time. After a small bite, I noticed the pancakes to be of high quality. You feel the evenness of the pancakes and that it makes you want more. It could be also due to the characteristics generated from the chocolate chips with bacon too. The pancakes didn’t feel overwhelming at all.

The way I created my presentation was trying to incorporate the elements of the pancakes itself along with bacon, maple syrup, and chocolate chips. As I made each pancake, I sprinkled a few chocolate chips on it as it was hot. This would make the chocolate melt creating a fountain like display. I also added bacon pieces in between layers of pancakes where they stuck out randomly. All the bacon crumbs were sprinkled from the top of the pancake down creating a casual dining effect. Finally, my maple syrup was poured down from the very top letting it overflow where they would slope down. This ultimately created a maple syrup lake.

Finding the perfect balance between bacon, chocolate chips, maple syrup, and pancakes is probably not the easiest. Traditionally, I have never seen chocolate chips but I have seen the rest and they were all separated. If in the process your mom tells you that you cannot combine them together, give her a peck on the cheeks and surprise her with what you are doing.
