Yet Another Truly Limited Edition Dior Tailleur Bar

Wa La!!! Today, I present the limited edition of Christian Dior’s Tailleur Bar! A short history about this must-have item for collectors is that according to the description on February 12th 1947, Mr. Dior himself during his first presentation of Haute Couture presented a supposedly new vision for elegant women. They were portrayed as curvy and had a regal posture, thats when Editor in Chief of American Harper’s Bazaar proclaimed it, the “Tailleur Bar” aka Bar Suit. So the picture of the palette that you will be seeing is a portrayed picture of what Mr. Dior himself had in his vision.

I have been craving for this palette for sometime after I saw it appear. My husband seeing this knew immediately that I wanted this article and embarked on a journey to claim this catch. He called all over the US for it but didn’t strike gold. According to him, for some reason he thought it must have been out of the country, and he called his friends in England and Canada. His friend in England had moved to Hong Kong and his friend in Canada was going to get married and had no time to check. Desperate as to obtaining this, he called a few places in Canada to check if this existed. To his surprise it did!! Holt Renfew had it and so he was determined to see if they would ship it over and they said, “We cannot ship it due to customs and we just don’t ship out of Canada.” Being flabbergasted, he started to furiously look through his list of contacts and he had a long time friend in Canada who lived in Edmonton. He immediately got in contact with her and arranged something. As heart felt as I can be I am Thankful!

As it can be seen the inside of the box comes with a miniature book that has the sketch of the “Tailleur Bar”.

The inside of the book also has the history of what I mentioned in the beginning.

The other side shows the palette with lines pointing towards words on what the names of the 5 colors are. And an illustration face with instructions on how the palette should be used. Not to mention, it even has colors!!

Beneath the booklet, there’s the palette and the Serum De Rouge lip treatment. As it can be seen that even after taking out the palette the back of it has the words, “Limited Edition.” It also sits nicely on the lower right of the book. I am assuming of the ways the picture was going to be taken before was to have the palette sitting nice where I have it right now since there is nothing there except for a serial number.

Ta da it opens! The palette resembles the same sketch as in the front of the book but in COLOR!

In this up close picture of the palette shows the background is Dawn Grey, while skin of the female is Blissful Pink; she is then depicted with a bar suit in Whisper Grey, a Storm Blue hat, and finally Anthracite Black gloves.

The second piece that comes with the palette is the Serum De Rouge or rather lip stick with SPF 20. “2 clicks for an optimum result” but don’t worry, it retracts!! In simple words, it can be twisted back and forth so it can come out to be of use and go back in when not of use.

The serum also provides lip treatment which repairs, hydrates, and gives the lips more volume. No more chapped lips!

No. 470 is actually a new shade for Fall 2010. The name is Pearly Pink.

In a nutshell, the rosy pink is smooth yet creamy, and it is very easy to glide across the lips.

Under flash you can see it has subtle shimmer that’s really not noticeable.

Finally, here is a comparison of both Tailleur Bar and Love Dior. Side by side, the first thing that is noticed is that the colors are very extravagant on the Love Dior, whereas the colors on the Tailleur Bar are much more mellow. The casing that holds the palettes also has a very eye catching difference, the Love Dior is plain black and the Tailleur Bar has a shiny silver border. Love Dior didn’t come with a booklet instead it was a card of a female with bright colored lips with matching eyeshadow. It also came with a nail polish.

I would probably never put any of them to use, instead I am archiving them.

I saw this palette in Vegas recently. I had to wipe up my drool.. haha, but I could not justify purchasing it as I could never bring myself to use it. It’s so pretty to look at.
